two things you can try
Spray the plants with Bacillus thuringiensis, otherwise known as "BT". BT is a naturally-occurring soil bacterium that produces poisons that will kill the caterpillars when ingested. It is completely non-toxic to humans and animals.

The second solution is to place a cardboard plant collar around the plant. This dissuades the caterpillars. Don't ask me how, it just does. The plants with the collars weren't bothered by the bugs. Those without were.
My hubby is picking up some bt today, thanks! Someone told me sevin dust, but I didn't want to use that because it can kill a whole hive of bees in just 1 bee gets in it. We already don't have enough bees here. Where did all of the bees go?

oooohh... never knew that bout the marigolds, i have those too but not around my veggie garden. i like to eat those too tho, great in salads!I love the collar idea... I also plant marigolds around in my garden as bugs don't like them and they are pretty.![]()

lol.......having a garden is soooo self satisfying.. i love to see what i can grow! and love sharing when its too much.. i still have stuff from last year in my freezer.I never thought about marigolds. Great idea.
I wonder if it's just too hot in Florida for the bees? We have started planting trees and shrubs that attract bees, but we just bought this house in December, so not much done yet.
This is my first garden that has produced enough to eat. Way more than enough a freezer full! Must be good earth, because I can kill a plant by looking at it! LOL
