It broke my heart when I had to close the sanctuary, WAGS & Whiskers, because of money! Those were difficult times letting go and finding shelters and foster homes for all the animals.
I had developed a technique for quickly socializing feral cats and that was my specialty. After I closed the shelter I traveled around the country teaching the technique to other feral cat rescuers. When you have a gift and don't use it you feel a hole in your heart. Some day maybe I can be in a position to see if I still have it.
I would rather have animals than money but unfortunately you can't have them without some money. I wish people would donate more to the small rescues rather than the large ones that get grants and large donations. Usually the small independent rescuers end up helping the most animals in the long run and get very little help with vet bills. I could go on and on about some of the large non-profits but I won't
