Better luck to all of you struggling. I can't stand a thief/vandalist.

I had a bad day today too. Everything I touched turned to dust (I'm a nurse....not good) so I packed up and came home. Was supposed to mail out a package to one of our family members here on ECF, but I was 3 minutes late getting to the post office.

But! When I got home, I had 5 new 14500s waiting in my mailbox and a new charger. YAY! I never thought I would see the day I was so excited to get batteries in the mail!

I depend on my daughter a bit too much to brighten the dark days. It's not fair, it's bad fathering, I know... but sometimes I do it. I'm sorry to you Ceridwen.

Just a little while ago she was chatting up a storm with me telling me all about Disney Princesses. How she was Snow White and mommy want this Princess and that Princess. And how Mommy Princess had this Prince and that Prince. And then Daddy!

"Daddy! Daddy, you hairy. You Beast. See -- look -- Beast and Beauty. You Beast."

*blinks*

That stung a little bit. Childish of me? Yep. Still stung a bit. And the day has barely begun on my clock. Urgh.

She is awfully cute when she chats up a storm though. Like a chipmunk on pixie sticks given a voice. -Magnus

LOL Magnus - it's the parent's curse.
You can't wait until:
1)they sleep through the night - and when they do you wake up in a panic and rush to make sure they're ok.
2)Until they can roll over - and then they roll under the bed and you think someone came into the hotel room ( even though your husband was right there) and nearly have a heart attack to realize the baby has rolled under the bed (true story!)
3)they crawl - and then your dashing about removing things from their mouths that you didn't know you even had
4)they walk - ditto add steps!!
5)until they talk - and talk, and talk, and talk

You can't wait until...and then you spend the rest of the time telling them to sit down and be quiet. LOL

As you know I'm smack dab in the teen years with DS#1 almost 17 and DS#2 14.

I drove DS#3 and some friends last week to youth group - chatter chatter chatter - and they even spoke TO ME! lol I'm soaking it in while I can. I'm glad to hear there is hope - and rumor has it they won't think I'm stupid anymore at some point!

Oh jeez.. I love it when she talks to me. She'll sit down for a solid hour and listen to me read anything. Anything. I will miss our little conversations as she gets older.

In our discussion (sob*snif*honk*) we recognize that it is our job as parents to let them fly. We're here with a safety net of sorts - but no guaranteed safe landing. We can only hope and pray. If we've done are job well, they leave us to stand upright. Not alone, because as parents we're never done parenting. It's a life long commitment. You'll always have advice to share and love to give that only her parent(s) can give. I personally take comfort in that!

You are so right....As a mother to four kids from 16 through 30 You never stop parenting but become more of a friend in the grown up years.
So sorry to hear of so much trouble my PIF friends have had in the last few days. (HUGS) to you all.

I am a proud momma today...my 16 year old sons ACT scores came in today..his first time taking it. He got a 25 composite score!! I told him to take it again and this time study...

dang!! i am SOOO sorry for your loss sal- I cant imagine living where I had to lock everything down- SURE, we have theifs, but I have been blessed to not have any come on my property- Might be the gun fire that is constant about 5 days a week. LOL

OMG- I cant belive those kids vadalized that house! are their parents gonna have to pay?? I'd make them clean it up if I was their mom AND pay you. But I am mean like that.

I went to town today- got the PO box for our shooting range (forgot the address for the PIF I was sending So SORRY!! ) was messing around walmart and my SIL called me, she was dizzy and in pain, and was freaked out- we thought she was having a heart attack or something, so I rushed the 20 miles home, picked her up, took her to the hospital, and they ran lots of tests- they couldnt find anything- but did say that her BP was high-
Sent her home, I drove her back, then drove back to town and went to my NWTF committee meeting- when that was over I headed to walmart again and JUST got home. I only have the two youngest kids- the two oldest picked peas all evening, and have to get back up at 5:30 to pick about 5 more bushels so they can get home before 8am and feed.

I have worked the last few weeks non stop on this foundation- and I am getting SOOOO excited.

Magnus, I can relate. My baby tells me sometimes "I want my Mommy!" and when I say "I AM your Mommy." She's responds with "Noooo, I want MY OTHER Mommy!" And it just cuts me to the bone. And I know it shouldn't, and Beth reminds me that it shouldn't, but it sure the hell does. (((Magnus)))

Good Morning!
Another beautiful day here. Hubby and daughter not feeling well. Time to play Dr. Mom. Sore throats and coughing. I Rx tea with honey and lemon, salt gargle.
But puppy is raising hell chasing the cat and trying to "kill" my leg, the big dogs are happily yapping at everyone going to work, and I'm not feeling back pain yet.
Life is good!

Morning all - back from taking the boys to run.

It was a gorgeous morning - light fog, the hum of summer insects, humid as heck (but hey it's July!). Another morning I wanted to bottle up and keep!

Trying to figure out what all we're doing today. If we go to the pool we have to go early. DS#3 has his 6th grade physical at 2:30. Meeting mom & dad for dinner and spend some time together.

Of course I have house work to do - but it's not going anywhere (dang it).
