My nasty troll of a neighbor is trying to have my only little shade tree cut down.I love that tree.Poor man has no idea the torture he will endure if I lose my lovely tree.Life will not be enjoyable for him ever again in this building.Promise.

I dont know the situation, or your yard, but you could always tell him "court would be expensive, but if you want to pay a crew to move it, I'd be happy to compromise" Avoids bad neighbors(if he's not already) and chances are he wont want to spend his $$ on it
