Behind you
Pchela, firstly I hope the two of you are OK. On the off chance this will help, a friend of mine's teenage daughter started having panic attacks on a semi-regular basis. They started her on klonopin (sp?) but they were worried about long-term addiction. After a bit of research they found out that she had a consistent electrolyte imbalance due to this "energy" powder she was sucking down at school. I can get more details for you if you want.

Secondly, do you think CHIP can help? I know a few people in Austin w/o insurance and they got enrolled in CHIP. Including one ~after~ an ER visit to help w/ that ER visit's expenses. If I can do anything, please let me know, -Magnus

The only blue county in Texas!
Thank you both for the encouraging words. I'm so scared to get the bill from today in the mail! It's gonna be bad. Magnus, I will look into CHIP again - she used to be covered on it but then she got booted. They said we made too much money. We're in that weird place where we make just enough to not qualify for any help and not enough to actually afford things like health insurance. Oh well. The most important thing is my daughter is okay. They said most likely panic attack. The doctor did mention that her electrolytes were okay but she has not been eating during the day. I wonder if that has an effect? Anyway, thank you so much Magnus for the tips - maybe Chip will take pity on us.

Now, I'm off to have my own panic attack - nothing like having a strange teenaged girl call you on your kids phone to tell you that your child is not breathing and stopped her car in the middle of traffic! OMG!

Pchela, between my Hubs and I we owe thousands and thousands in medical bills from this past year.We just send whatever we can afford each month. They dont like it but its all we can do.Everyone gets a check.

Having relatives in Texas that have massive medical bills, I know a bit about trying to keep the payments manageable. Once you get the bill, send them a check for what you think you cans send them every month and no more than that. Once they cash the first check they have accepted that as your "monthly payment plan." You can send bigger checks later if you want, but no matter how much they whine and wheedle and threaten, they cannot do anything to you legally so long as you send at least as much as your first check.

An "uncle-in-law" racked up over a million dollars in medical bills when he fell asleep and drove up under a semi on his way to a gig in Dallas. He is now unemployable and does not qualify for disability--so they've had to figure out the ins and outs of non-insured medical bills pretty quickly...

At the end of the summer season, the local waterpark allows you to bring your dogs. It's 20 bucks per dog but it goes towards several animal rescue organizations.
The only water Lucy had experienced was the bath tub and she likes this much better. They had the sloped kiddie pool and the lazy river open for the dogs.

Lucy is the golden retriever/collie mix that walked into the library.
