I just got a phone call from my daughters friends mother screaming at me "Why would you allow your child to have blue and pink hair??Whats wrong with you??""Now my daughter is crying because she wants hair like that!!I cant have a child of mine have hair that looks like that!!""I got kinda mad and very nicely said,Tell your daughter when she gets straight A's like mine she can have any color hair she wants.Then you wont ever have to worry about it,OK?...............Im so mean.How could I say that??I just hate when other parents think they know better than you.Like Im an idiot or something.
Keyz-- Lawd, have mercy on the stupid people. I'm so sorry that you had to deal with stupid, especially while you are sick.
One of the things that I love my mom for doing was allowing me control of my own body. It taught me as a woman that I had the right to make decisions. Hair color, how I dressed, when to go on birth control, it all make me less susceptible to "peer pressure". By letting me say yes to some of life, I had the strength to say no to others.

Thank you Enid,I agree.My daughter is very smart and athletic and if she can do that while rockin some funky hair then more power to her.She is definetly her own person and is learning to make her own choices in life.There are plenty of rules to keep you safe and healthy and the rest is up to her to decide.Plus she looks cute!
I wouldn't worry to much about it--doesn't sound like she's bright enough to "get it" anyway.
I just finished my part of the home made turkey pot pie. Jeff is in the kitchen creating his masterpiece with the pie crust. He's all about the vent holes and crust edge being purty. Yay for turkey leftovers!
I've had to deal with this sort of thing all of my daughters school career as she is artistic and I raised her to follow her own path, not everybody elses. People just don't like that... they don't like people to think for themselves it seems. Maybe it frightens them? Maybe they're jealous? I've wondered about this a lot.
I'll admit to wondering wth some parents have 'allowed" their kids to do stuff (rolls eyes) but never , and I mean never, have I even paused to think about calling a parent and .....ing.
Not to mention - I don't care if ours kids don't like our rules - they're free to to make their own rules when they're providing the roof over their heads and the food in their bellies. Then again, our rules are pretty simple - mind your manners. treat your teachers and the neighbors with respect. try your best. Thw words please and thank you go a mightly long way. no killing each other. Oh, and bring your friggin laundry down to the laundry room if you want clean clothes.
