Poor livi and poor mommy :(
Occasionally we will get a fever around here that makes no sense. And alot of times, I just try to let it run its course. I figure the body knows there is something there and is fighting it. Keeping them comfy is the best thing.

I have been sooo blessed *knock on wood*- my kids have only been sick a few times, I bet for all of them I havent bought more than 10 rounds of anitbiotics in their combined 39 years. Even back when they were in school-

Funny I was talking to a woman who spent her whole life teaching and finally retired as a principal a few days ago- We were discussing my kids, She begged me not to put the 4 year old in school when he turns 6 and is ready for kinder. She said its not worth it. Just keep doing what I am doing, that my kids are not your typical 'homeschool' kids. They are well rounded and she said I should keep the others out.

And speaking of the others- they won first and second place in their division (nationaly ranked by the governing body of the national sporting clays) for a tournament yesterday- 75 out of 100 clays in sporting clays for son # 1, and 64 out of a 100 for son # 2.

Its not the best, but its pretty good. and they had alot of fun. I bet we walked 5 miles. LOL Then we spent the evening pulling apart 200lbs of pork for a benefit BBQ we are putting on for a friends son who is sick and had to have surgery. -

Q4, I think I would do the homeschool route if given another chance. My sister homeschooled her five kids and has a math blog/site (Let's Play Math!). The schools around here seem to just teach the things the book tells them to teach. Memorize these facts and you can pass. I feel a student should learn how to learn, and should want to know more. Curiousity is a good thing. Not just learn the what, but ask why and how.

Q I commend you for homeschooling your kiddos. I have seriously considered it because ds is a VERY out of the box type learner. He requires a lot of patience and creative solutions. Honestly, that's one reason I can't do it. I need a break from his energy. This year was nuts with the teacher they gave him, who turned out to be a bully, but it did work out for us. The school has really gone above and beyond for him. His teacher from last year ended up taking him into her classroom and teaching him as best she could, considering she was teaching 3rd grade to her class and 4th grade to him. If the school hadn't tried so hard to accommodate him, we would have had to find something else to do.

Hangdude, cool! I will check out her blog!! :)

Daisy, its great that you have a school system that will help, SAD that he had a teacher this year who wouldnt- but, our school system SUCKS here- They are so worried about the state mandated tests and scared of the gangs that they dont try to do anything except teach the test and are retroactive on everything. We actually have a charter school in our town that is exploding, kids are begging to get in. BUT, you have to drive your kids there, and its over 20 miles away.

The charter schools are the reason the public schools are working so hard. There are so many here, and the public schools are just bleeding so many children, that they had to do something. It really is beneficial to us because I doubt a charter school would go so far out of their way for a kid like ds. He is a gifted, energetic, boy and that is the type of child that schools tend to fail. That is also the specific type of child that the public school is concentrating on working with. I have actually been told on several occasions that ds is the type of child they want because he forces them to get better. As for the awful teacher, she is in her late 70's and is, IMO, in desperate need of forced retirement. I'm working on getting her removed from the school, as she has continued to harass ds, even though he has not been in her class since October of last year. And has been told repeatedly to leave him alone. The district is working on new policies that take quality into account, rather than simply seniority, when making staffing decisions. The crappy thing is that the school had to send 4 teachers to other schools due to layoffs, and three of them were dd's teacher, the teacher that ds was helping out for much of the year, and the teacher who took ds into her classroom and watched out for ds when evil teacher was harassing him. It was a very emotional last week of school for us here. I know there wasn't anything they could do about it, but it felt pretty personal because of who it was.

Well, her fever got up to 103  She was a mess. Fitful sleep lasted about 45 minutes then back to crying and misery. Poor kid. :( Got her some Motrin (we were out and the Tylenol wasn't doing it) and that seems to have lowered the fever enough for her to get some relief. Doing much much better now. :D Now I can relax a little bit. Feel like I've been on the edge of a cliff all day. =\

Some of you might remember me from the PIF Secret Santa, in which I was the proud recipient of a tiny Ty toy kitty, Pepper. Well, Pepper now has real live company. Here's Jackie! He's 12 weeks old and I got him Saturday. After my elderlies both went to the Rainbow Bridge two years ago I didn't think I'd ever have another cat. Famous last words. :)
