Luckily she got to the hospital pretty fast so other than black and sore she will be ok when the swelling goes down.

Strangely, I have not come across a single snake this summer in Vermont, and I've been outside gardening most every day. Usually we have several living in the garden. There's been much more chipmunk, toad, and owl action around my house, so perhaps their influx has cut down on the slithering. But I like garden snakes. They're fun! Also have had a lot of fun hummingbirds!
And now that I think about it, there's been a lot less yellow jackets and wasps here this year. Oh and bumblebees. Though there's unfortunately been a lot of tree and plant infections.
