It didn't sound good to me either but it is the bomb. Yes saffron is crazy I always wonder why people grow pot instead of saffron. But it is so good in risotto.
I never liked truffle much. Again they are crazy expensive.

yeah I mentioned it in that thread too...seems it'd be the easiest solution....kinda why I was gonna try it....
lol...I like the tapered funnel ones myself...thats what I did on these because of that...the mouth is as wide as a cart...and then I ground a funnel shape with a cone shaped dremel bit...so as long as it hits the end it goes in ...lol
Saffron is expensive but fortunately, a little goes a looong way.
Yeah and it just has that something something. If you know what I mean. I had a friend send me a bag from Spain last summer. The mail lady nearly had a heart attack when she saw how much he sent. It was like half ounce.

Living in the Keys, I would assume you've had Paella ( Cuban dish with clams and shrimp and what-not ) That is saffron rice, it's what makes the rice yellow.

Is saffron cheaper in Spain? DS#1's school is doing a trip to Spain this summer - if so maybe now would be a good time to get on his Spanish teacher's good side! hmmm

My brother and sister in law out side of Orlando and my sister in law won't eat seafood of type. We met up with them on a family vacation this year in Indian Rocks (thanks mom & dad! lol) She won't even sit next to or across from one of us if we ordered oysters and the night we bought shrimp to cook back at the condo our parents rented she ordered pizza. Their kids think fried popcorn shrimp is exotic.
Oddly enough there is a local shrimp fest going on here - farm raised local shrimp. It's the "latest" idea for farmers getting out of tobacco.
