Just do to him what my grandmother did to me.

With the most woeful, solemn look on her face, she'd lowly murmur: But God was looking...

That worked really, really well on me until I was about 10 1/2.

Today, I always think that my grandma is watching...and that keeps me in check. She was a dear, dear woman and if there's anyone I would never want to let down, it'd be her.

But, yeah, I can still see that look and hear the gravity of her voice when she'd say that.

Oh my! She must have had the same play book my grandma had - but her line was "You'll make the Blessed Mother cry". She had a picture on teh wall, and I'd turn to look to see. Dang I'd forgotten that memory! (shudder)

Ah, I remembered you saying something about Purdue in another post. That must be why I thought academia. Figured he was up there at either UC or Louisville.

We lived 1 mile from Purdue. The guy who started the company DH was working for at the time also taught at Purdue. Then sold the company for big bucks and retired somewhere warm.

But I didn't think anyone was looking is what he told the Principal, I wasn't trying to upset anyone.
OMG...priceless....how old??

Well, the only time I remember my Grandma slapping me was when I retorted that even God had to sleep sometime. She smacked me pretty lightly and I had to press another button since I'd found hers with "Remember, Grandma, God is watching!"

I never did like the concept of picking out your own switch. I really didn't like it that day.

wow... all I remember grandma doing was sitting in her chair cuddling with me while she smelled my hair. She was a sweet old lady who passed after my grandfather did. She died of a broken heart. I don't think she saw anything bad in any of her grandchildren, we were just that children. She's a special lady.

Other grandma- alive and kickin' plays spades like nobody's business, and can make a killer ham at christmas time!!

Heh, well, the one I was talking about was my maternal grandma. She couldn't cook to save her life and once she found out you liked something, you were eating every single time she made something. I still haven't had a rice krispie treat since high school because I was SO burnt out on them. But, boy, you knew she loved you. Sad to think how much I took what she gave for advantage. I'd kill for one of her back scratches right now.

My paternal grandma was entirely different. She was pretty old by the time I was born (74) and had great grandkids older than me. Plus, she had a lot of pretty, shiny, breakable objects in her apartment. I swear, all I remember of her until I was a teenager was "Don't touch it! You'll break it!" Once I hit my teenage years though, she was completely different. She loved writing letters and I got into the habit of writing her back. Never did get as attached to her as my Grandma Browneyes but she was a good lady too.

Both of them had very, very rough lives and it was amazing how differently they adapted to what life tossed their way.
