Do yall think that a slip up resets the "quit" calendar?

Funny you brought this up. I told my Doctor today I was quitting smoking (I'm not all the way there yet but I'm down to less than a pack a day from 2-3 packs a day) and of course he was elated.

But then he said to me, "Take it slow and expect to relapse. Relapses are OK because they give you the opportunity to quit again."

Seems like really good advice to me... Rose. :)

He was also very pro PV, although he didn't know much about them. I think I'll bring him some info on them next time I see him.

pfft...no, not really....just one less avoided....besides nic only stays in your system really for about a week...so at worst maybe just feel really ashamed about it for like 5 days...

lol...it's not like we're giving out the equivalent of sobriety chips here...

now if your slip up was a multi pack, multi day bender...well then maybe...

You know I keep meaning to go talk with my doc about all this...just ya not a Doc person. (either lol)
Sounds like you got some great advise from yours.

I was about as heavy a smoker as you where...two packs a day pretty easy. Three on a bad day.
Each time I "quit" a conventional way, when I'd start back again I'd be a heavier smoker.

Lol no not a multi pack multi day thing....few about a month in(stupid Blu) and when the SO left :p

Well heck no. I quit smoking over 3 month ago. I've had 3 cigs in the last 3 months, I quit 3 smoking over months ago. Someone doesn't feel the same, oh well. That's how I feel, and it aint none my business what other people think or they'd tell me.:D

that's always awesome when your Docs are into it...both my regular doc and my oncologist were pleased with it...

But my regular doc was super awesome (he's a nutter anyway)...he wanted to know all about it...wanted to try it (he's not a smoker)...wanted me to bring in info that he could share with other patients... but then he's the type of doc when you go and see he asks if theres anything else bothering you...followed up by "you need perscriptions for anything?"...

soooo...
over in the zombies group there's been some talk of shelters and stuff...

anyway I stumbled across this one....and man I wanna visit...
the selling point to me was this phrase "The vault is protected by high walls of fortified concrete, doors armoured with steel plate and a home guard of free-roaming polar bears."

anyway...is it wierd that the thought of free-roaming polar bear guards....is a selling point?

Yeah in one of the other forums I saw a CASAA PDF that has a lot of good info in it. I think I will print it out and hand it to him when I see him in 3 months.

The funny thing is I never wanted to quit. I enjoy smoking and view it a little bit different than most because of Native American heritage.

In fact the only time I did quit, was when I wandered in to the ER (at the behest of my Doctor) a few days after my appendix had ruptured. Was in the hospital for 2 weeks.

The night I got out, I was smoking again... after 14 days the nic addiction was kicked.

That's how my Doctor is, I've been through a lot of docs trying to find one who is competent and actually gives a damn.
