Morning all! Mom's surgery went well. They found that the replacement hip socket was infected and replaced it. The infection did not spread so the doctor decided to not remove/replace the "ball" piece that is drilled into her femur since that would be a nasty surgery...she'll be getting the word this morning that she'll be on IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks and then will have to take oral antibiotics for the rest of her life.

Dad opted not to tell her last night since he knew she'd have a ton of questions he could not answer. When I left last night she was higher than a kite, watching The Blind Side and dozing in and out. They have a new type of pain blocker in her hip - kind of like an epidural, but to the the nerve sheath for the entire hip area. It works for 12-24 hours. Was working well last night compared to her first surgery 6 years ago.
