(((Sensay))) Miss you pretty lady.

So, we had a very scary night. Livi has horrilbe croup ( Croup - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) and I was ready to take her to the ER last night. I ended up talking to an ER nurse and she said to keep doing what I was already doing (steam from the shower, cool mist humidifier, keep her head up etc.) and we saw the Dr. today. Steroids are called in.

I was up most of the night...I'm so tired. Livi is doing ok now...but it will get bad again tonight. I hate croup!

I hope Livi is feeling better (((hugs))) Livi! Croup is horrible - sounds like a piece of cellophane is in the throat and they can't breathe..... :( You did all the right things mommy.....it is terrifying though.

Hey! Ive been missing, I know.... Been sick with some cold/brochitis/ worried I had pneumonia type stuff. Still not back at 100%, but feeling better. I can sympathize with Livi. :( Hope she feels better soon.

Got my secret santa shopping done, finally! Will send Morgan the tracking as soon as I get it.

Where is Q4MK? I havent seen her post lately. Or did I miss it with all the skimming I did to catch up? Hope she is ok.

Just read through the Box Elder scandal thread. *shakes head*

Well, just letting everyone know I am still alive. Will probably stay out of work one more day tomorrow to try to rest. Then get back at it Tuesday. My work will be WAY behind by then, since Im sure no one else is doing it. :(

Ugh, B. I would lose my head. =/

Evan has pretty much been sick since we started sending him to school. And it's always a cold with an awful sounding cough. Literally since mid-september. I am about at my breaking point with it. Short of just taking him out of school, I'm not sure what else to do. I kept him home for a full week, the week before last. He got 100% better and I sent him back in and in no more than 2 days he comes down with yet another chest cold.

I mean seriously??? I'm waiting for him to get pneumonia or croup himself. I will go absolutely insane.

And then this week, I kept him out of school on Wednesday to try and snip the cold in the bud, and the school calls and leaves a grossly patronizing and judgemental voicemail on my phone saying "We are concerned about how often you are keeping Evan out of school."

Oh really? I am concerned about you letting sick kids cough and sneeze all over my son...

Sick kids are the worst, all of the worry and fear.

My baby is the only one that ever had croup, and she had it at 3 months old. I freaked out and took her to the ER, it was hell. I didn't know anything about croup, because I never saw it before. The doctors gave me that "idiot" look, like I'm one of the parents that comes to the ER any time my child has a fever. There was a kid there that just had a mild fever that night too lol. They also treated me like I was an idiot for taking my husband to get checked after his bad car accident because I was worried about internal damage when he hit his side on the armrest.

Guess I'm an idiot.

Fortunately my school age girls don't get sick easily, otherwise they'd never be in school!

No word fro Quitin here! Not liking that. :-(

Sallana - had the same issues here with all 3 boys - though I think #3 was the worse. I finally got to the point I just sent him along with the rest of the snotty nosed kids. I think it's hard to decide to sent them or keep them home when they're not running a temp.

Hey guys!

About kids being sick. I almost died with pneumonia before my mom and grandmother took me to the hospital. My family was in one of those "divine healing, we don't use any doctors, God will heal us, almost snake handling churches". I was around 3.5 years old and still remember the feeling and the family fight that ensued. I remember literally choking and needing the heimlich maneuver while coughing up mucus. The moral of this story is call social services if you see stupid people with children that aren't getting the medical treatment that they need. I know that everyone wants to keep the "government" out of your decisions about your children but I almost died because of biblical interpretation.

QFMK hasn't posted to her blog in a while. The last entry was back in July. Ok, a search based off of remembered information from her, I found her FB and the shooting org's FB. Before anyone gets paranoid, I only use my librarian skills for good not evil. She hasn't posted on the shooting org's wall since August 24th and I assume that she controls that FB page. If a mod wants the info that I've found to see if she's okay, I'll pass it on.

Has anyone heard from/about Magnus?

I'm worried about our missing peeps too :(

Sal? You have a couple more months of this and then it becomes much more manageable. It always happens when kids first start school (or pre-school)....it's either now or in kindergarten......you never catch the same virus twice - but there are 1000s of them - once kids start school they are exposed to so many - while it's true that other parents are not diligent about keeping their kids home when sick, this is still bound to happen unfortunately. So the most common cold viruses are making the kids miserable but this too shall pass and then there's the building immunities which comes too - it will settle down.

Yep. Those contagious germs are all over the place before the fevers start. Thats why the "fever" rule isnt a good one. But some parents send the kids to school so they dont have to find a sitter, or stay home from work, or be bothered with them while its "their time".

Enid, good to know I know someone who can help me hunt down someone if I ever need to. Do you also help hide bodies? :p

Concerned for Q. I cant remember when all the fires were burning in Texas, but I hope she is ok. I know she would go a few days without posting before, but not almost a month.....

Yes, and how is Magnus? And where is Clay?
