(((((Hugs)))))) Chelle2!

Enid, I think its great that you are going to get familier with handguns. I think everyone should learn about them, simply because its hard to make a judgement on something you know nothing about. :)

But you will enjoy it. I have never seen anyone take a class, or be taught to shoot that hated it after. and I have helped people who have never seen a gun before.

(((Chelle))) hope tomorrow is a better day.

Enid too cool your learning to shoot. It's great fun.
So whatcha going to get? I love my 1911 - 45 auto. Very hard to carry concealed though. I usually carry a 357 snubnose. Lightweight and packs a wallop. Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Aww, Chelle. I'm so sorry. (((((hugs)))))

I've shot guns at a shooting range but just don't know much about them or how to clean them. I've shot a rifle, a 22 and whatever the glock was. Not to get too heavy but my sweetie was shot with a 22 when he was 11. It was a case of domestic violence, in which his grandfather was killed. So when Heather wanted to get a gun, Jeff was the one who suggested that we all go to classes. I guess you usually fall on either side of the gun argument, if you've been shot. He kinda straddles the middle.
Heather's buying the gun, so I have no clue what she will decide on.

I LOVE my .380- its nice and the perfect size, I can throw it in my purse, or put it in the wasteband of my jeans- Its real nice and not too big- and I can hit whatever I want :)

And I can understand being scared of a gun, I had a ceiling fan fall on me once, and I was scared to death of them for years. Couldnt sit under one or sleep under one for years... and I STILL dont like to sleep under them. But if I have been in the attic adn KNOW how well they are attached, I can deal with them being in my house now.b :)

And I really want the kids that I teach to shoot a gun know how to clean them, take care of them, and identify the parts,
We host classes to teach them. I am not an expert by any means, but I can do it if I have to. Just know that I am gonna call SOMETHING a thingymajig... ;-)

BMontgomery - {{hugs}}

Enid {hugs} to you too! I hope the house things works out to everyone's satisfaction (you and your roommates - I really don't care about the sellers lol) And OMgosh about Jeff and his grandfather. How sad and horrible.

We have 2 old shot guns that were family pieces in a gun safe in our attic crawl space - I know next to nothing about guns. We've talked about taking a gun class as a family.

Right now I'm getting ready to cause a big stink with one of my neighbors - he's been shooting what we think is pellet gun or bb gun at the deer. It's illegal here. The other night my othr neighbor was letting her dog out and standing waiting for him and she swears something buzzed by her - She froze. She didn't know that the creep behind them has been doing this! And I'd seen him out about the same time. Grrrrr. she or her dog could have been hurt!

UGGG dark- that is SOOO not right- our number one safety rule is "KNOW WHATS BEHIND your target" I have issues with people who hunt right around my house. We are surrounded by national forrest. And we do hunt it, but we dont point towards the house.

Of course, depending on the type of gun, they might not do a bit of damage- On one hand, I have seen a pellet gun take out a wild boar (Thats pretty good, because I have shot them in the head with a .22 and them not drop) - on the other hand, I caught my kids putting hog feed IN their pellet guns and shooting it at each other- because they are so weak- its like those cheap plastic BB guns.

Same thing with the off the shelf Daisy BB guns- they are not made like they were when we were kids. LOL
But there are competition BB guns that are accurate and dangerous.

and truthfully if the deer are coming into your yards- very little aside from actual death will stop them. But radios, bars of soap, fabric softener sheets, pie plates on strings, etc will do more to deter them. We get them in our garden every year. And they will destroy a garden in one night- Of course, it never happens during season.... LOL

Good morning PIF. I got into couponing right before Christmas and can't believe how much money I am saving. I went to the store yesterday and had a 61% saving! I got the coupon lady from TLC coming to do a class at my church in march! Anyone from Ohio that wants to come let me know it's 10 dollars plus 5 cans of food for a local food pantry. I am so excited!

I'm staying home today to work on my coupons! lol

Jordon - be careful with the TLC couponers - they aren't always (from watching the show) the most ethical of couponers. I've watched them use the wrong coupons (same company family,. but no for the product they are buying) - as long as it didn't "beep' they'll push it through. Personally I'm not a fan of this. And shelf clearers - grrr - if you know you're going to need 20 of something, call the Mgr of the store and see if they'll special order it for it (when you know in advance). Both of my local groceries are awesome about this. They end up with happy customers when all of us can get our deals.

I've finally worked with our CVS mgr on checking the add in advance to make sure she has enough stuff to last the week. Though CVS is GREAT about rain checks (at least ours is!)
