One thing I would like to add to this which isnt discussed very often, mg strength. I was a 10-12 cigarette a day menthol ultra light smoker and many of the vendors recommended 11mg or lower based off that. Found out three weeks later and vaping ALL day that 11mg never gave me complete satisfation, only partially and only while vaping either menthol or minty flavors. It was like an itch that could never be fully scratched.

Needless to say, all my current juices are 18mg and have been happy since. I found this to be one of the biggest challenge that I didn't even expect since everyone kept recommending a low dosage.

Rule of thumb, if your new to vaping, small size different flavors AND strengths should be tested till you find one for both that suits you

Sugah, you need 15 posts before you can create a signature here. (I think it's 15.) When you have enough posts you'll see the option Edit Signature under your Control Panel, or under the Quick Links menu at the top of every page.
Thanks for your reply, Scottes.....I will wait patiently for my chance to proudly make my signature Banner with your kindly given instructions!

Good stuff Scottes. Taking up this point:

"Units that run hot, like the 510, have a tendency to reduce the flavor from the e-juice. Cooler units like the 801 allow for more flavor to come through."

I'd say that heat can enhance some flavors and lessen others. The tobacco and stronger flavors are enhanced with the 510 vs. the Janty Stick which runs cooler. DV's Habana Reserve, Absinthe and even the Black Currant - all non sweet flavors taste much better on the 510 as does Janty's cappuccino which is an strong expresso and some cinnamon. Tobacco flavors, Camel, Lucky strike, Tennessee Cure! even marlboro do well on the 510. And it doesn't seem to matter if it's manual or auto. None of these have the same flavor on the Janty Stick. In fact, I would have missed my favorite vape now, Habana Reserve if I only tried it on the JS.

On the other hand, Apple, Coconut, RY4 oddly, Vanilla, Banana, ie. most of the fruity and sweet stuff tastes better with the Janty stick cooler vape and lose some flavor in the 510 - I mean you still know you're vaping Banana but it's better in the JS.

It's a new work, in progress. Don hasn't done those parts yet.

Thanks for coming to my defense, Scottes! Notice the title of this post. You especially should read it. Once you do, you'll know what I mean.:)

And it includes a functioning link to Spikey's one-hour instructional video!

Well thanks Don! I'm glad you liked my post enough to link to it. And for pointing out that my opinion was often quite different from my wife's opinion. I found this alone to be amazing. No one product fits everyone's desires.

But, one problem - you spelled my name wrong: "...a wonderful new post by rum aficionado Stottes:" - it's "Scottes".

No worries, I forgive you. :D

Duh! My brain knew that, but my fingers betrayed me. Sorry about that!

I *think* I got it right in the couple other references to you.

Thanks for your forgiveness, SCottes!

Thanks so much for all the great info. My wife got the 510 after I showed her what an e-cig was online. I shared her backup for a week and ordered my own. Now I think I am going to look for something with a little flair. I like products that are quality minded first, but a little cool graphics always helps too. Thanks again! I will definately be returning to this guide again and again.

Reality is for those that lack imagination...

Vapor Production
A lot of people have the idea that an e-cig that produces a ton of vapor is way better than one that produces a little bit of vapor. It probably is. I don’t know. I have yet to figure out what the big deal is, other than the fact that it looks cool when you puff out a huge cloud of “smoke”.
For me vapor is very important, pretty much crucial actually.

I don't need some huge cloud of vapor coming out of me, but...
If I don't have a decent amount of vapor then I am simply not satisfied.

I feel comfortable saying that it is mostly a psychological thing with me.
But it is something I could not do without, no question about it.

Had I heeded the advice here and bought a 510, I would have been sorely disappointed. I ordered a 901 as my first e-cig, and have purchased and used the 510 and KR808D-1 since then. I prefer my 901 in almost every way.

Frankly, I find the 510 tastes ugly, harsh, and burnt no matter what I do. And yes, I've long since vaped out the primer. Perhaps it works better with tobacco flavors, all of which also taste ugly, harsh, and burnt to me.

The biggest problem, however, is that the 510 atomizer gets hot (and starts tasting ugly, burnt, and harsh) extremely quickly. I would need eight or ten 510s sitting on my desk to avoid overheating. I only need two 901s handy.

I do like manual batteries (which, thankfully, are now available for the 901). And I LOVE the smaller, more lightweight feel of the 510. If my 901 felt like a 510 in my hand, I'd be in vaping heaven...

Anyone who hasn't bought an e-cig but is going to should read that first post. If you think about what Scottes has said and research along those lines you should do okay.

Having said that, you'll only ever know until you commit and try one. If I were to give advice I would simply say: buy a 901 starter kit, make sure you get at least two atomizers and two batteries, get at least a 20ml bottle of liquid (18mg) and have at it. You'll soon know what all these descriptions and terms mean to you and then can decide what you like and want in your vaping.

The 901 and 2 of everything is a great suggestion.

I would suggest buying it from a place that sells small bottles, or sampler packs, of juice. Both my wife and I made sure that we had several different tobacco-flavored juices. We figured it would make the analog-to-vaporizer transition. I haven't touched a single one, and my wife gave them up after a few days.

Yeah, I thought I needed that tobacco flavour right when I began, too. As soon as my tobacco carts, that I got with my kit, were done I ordered strawberry and haven't tried any tobacco flavours since.

I like the fact I now associate my nic fix with nice flavours not tobacco in nature. It keeps tobacco itself one step further removed from the addiction -- it creates a different dynamic.

And just to post a different perspective from the last two posts...

I tried a number of fruit flavors and such, and can't really tolerate any of them.
I am strictly using tobacco based flavors, and now know I will never want anything else.

Although I do mix in some various flavors that go well with tobacco now and then.
But none of them are fruit flavors.

Disclaimer: The apricot flavor HAS so far escaped the Great Fruit Flavor Purge of 2009.

I too ordered a 510 kit for myself and my girlfriend after doing hours of research. Being a Camel/Lucky Strike smoker,my main thing was a STRONG throat hit, and from what i gathered off of the forums, the 510 had great reviews concerning consistent strong throat hits. Well i am not completely dissatisfied, but its not what l was really hoping for. I have only tried the carts that came with it as well as LiquidXpress Mr.Bean juice, and i cannot tell the difference. Ive asked Parked about this, and he told me that he too didnt taste the flavors either when he started vaping, but after 6 months of analogue free vaping, the flavors came through.
But back to the 510. I would like to try something else out as well, but i am back to an indecision yet again. The janty stick sounds promising, as does the BE112, but i dont know........ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!

If you want a bigger throat hit than you are getting off your 510 now...

--Get higher nicotine juice, but only if you feel you need it, otherwise...
--Try a few different juices and flavors because they all vary in throat hit
--Get a mod that is known for big throat hits

Hi all, I too am very new to this VAPE and would like to say that i have started today with a disposable e-cig. This is the SS No 7 and so far, as a starter, I kinda like this. I will be getting the starter kit from smokertip unless somebody can let me know of anything better. I too racked my brains on this (for 3 weeks now) and I like the 2 piece so no mess or fuss for me. That is why I have decided to get the kit from smokertip and plus they have a lot of flavors that I would like to try. again, I liked the info you gave here and if anybody has anything to offer me, please email me with it.
I am glad to be a part of this forum and to also help others to quit with the analog cigs (I started when I was 8, 39 long yrs.) and now I can quit 4 good.
