He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer recently.
For those that don't know who he is, check out any you tube videos on him. While I don't agree with everything he says, his view of religion I share. He is very well read, versed, and usually verbally annihilates anyone he debates. My thoughts are with him and his family. After all, we are not too morally inept to have human emotion and caring without the presence of god.

That's sad to hear. My father died of complications from esophageal cancer and it was a painful thing to go through. It's a mean type of cancer... I hope for the best for him, whatever "the best" might be in his case.

I heard it doesn't look good for him. I still hope he is able to beat this. It's sad, but at least he seems to be pretty positive about it for the most part.

I'm not an atheist (still on the fence about all that), but I'm a fan of Hitchens. He is on a whole different level than most human beings in terms of literary acumen and skills of logic. I'm reading Hitch 22 right now.
