The batteries seem to make some difference as well.
My gray Ultrafires 16340s have the issue with not turning the unit on/off as intended. My Trustfire flame-jackets do not.
The Trustfires are a bit longer, just enough to keep the end-cap from completely sitting flush against the tube and allow the on/off function to work at a 1/4-1/2 turn. That may change in time as the spring ages, we'll see. But only a hairline space is visible at the connection of cap and tube and it seems to be a snug fit without play or any loosening of the cap noted.
It's all good.
