Specifically:

9. Flaming, trolling, other misconduct
a. These are not permitted -

  • Discussion or mention of illegal/illicit drugs or sexual content.

I believe this is the rule that is applicable when posters ask or mention as to the use of a certain plant derived tincture for use in e-cigs.

Recently, 2 states in the US have moved to legalize that certain plant's recreational use.

My Question: Would it still be against the forum rules of a member living in such a state to post about the completely LEGAL and LAWFUL use of said plant? Or for such a member to ask questions as to the same?

(If this is not the right section, I apologize. Moderator, please let me know or move accordingly - thanks)

Here is a quote from Roly regarding why we have that particular rule--

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-why-we-dont-allow-drug-talk.html#post4969735

"ECF is the global central resource for electronic cigarette information. As such, one of its main duties is to remain respectable and to present the best possible face of e-cigarette use to the outside world. Our task is therefore to assure visitors that e-cigarette use is respectable, normal and entirely legal in every way.

One of the main problems we face is a continual propaganda assault paid for by commercial rivals who will suffer as e-cigarettes become more widely used. This is a serious issue for them because the smoking-related death rate will fall dramatically, in an exact parallel with the number of smokers who convert to an e-cigarette, in any country where e-cigarettes are freely available. The obvious superiority of e-cigarettes over tobacco products, and as a better solution than trying to quit (especially with the ineffective or dangerous pharmaceutical interventions), means that e-cigs are a serious threat to the income of some major vested interests. The only way they can counter this is to use a combination of lies, propaganda and suborned officials to try and stop e-cigarettes.

One way they might succeed is to portray e-cigarettes as intrinsically undesirable, or illegal, or even as a way to use illegal drugs. To stop this taking place we need to ensure that web searches for terms associated with this type of material do not return ECF in the results, and that searches on ECF produce nothing. We should keep ECF 'clean' in order to stop them succeeding. This is why words related to these topics are automatically censored by our software.

We hope you now understand why certain subjects are not allowed on ECF."

I don't think it's so much the legality or that we're a bunch of prudes- we're trying to distance and not associate ourselves with the topic because it could have a detrimental effect on the future of vaping. Don't give the ANTZ any ammo.

Just a reminder and clarification for the civics impaired folks:)

Federal law overrides state law in the United States. The Department of Justice has "chosen" not to interfere in California, but it is still against the law in the United States of America.

i really don't think it has anything to do with something being legal or illegal but rather with how the forum was envisioned by the founder.
it is, after all, a global forum with plenty of members who could have brought up this question years ago - foremost in my mind are the dutch atm but i'm sure there are many more - and refrained because they respected the forum guidelines as they were written.

Very well said Sir. And that is the bottoms line to all of it. This forum was created to help people STOP the cigarettes, analogs, what ever you want to call them. Not to talk about other things that may or may not be illegal. That's what I admire most about ECF. They have strict rules for everyone. Not just a few. Everyone is equal in here. Just like it should be.

Thanks for your comment. I think it is a great goal to help smokers to stop smoking. From my short time on this forum, I find that it is a great resource for folks who would like to stop the harmful impact that combustion has on the body. In that spirit, there are folks who are intent on quitting "smoking" and are very interested in the health benefits that vaporizing has in that venture, the active ingredient in that smoke and vapor may not be nicotine. I don't think that the potential health benefits of transitioning from combustion to vaporization belong to nicotine users primarily.

But I digress. I am a guest in the forum owner's home, so to speak, to whom the rules need not be justified. I thank you all for your continued clarification and will endeavor to conduct myself in a manner that this fine board deserves.

I spent some free time, which has been very limited lately, but needed to get away for a bit. I went to the local B/M shop. Took a few things down to the owners. There was a couple of ladies vaping away and looking around. Never met them before. (my bad) The older of the two made a comment about COPD and how much better she feels. I told her my story with the ER trips and everything. Both were shocked. Asked about my provair and my kicked SB. Chatted for a bit and come to find out that one is the owners MOM and the other is his Aunt. I hugged em both and said it wasn't their fault he was related to them. The laughter was priceless. Shared our stories and suggestions. Told em about ECF and may or may not join. That remains but the idea of F@H got the Aunt's attention really quick. Just maybe I helped another. That idea is more precious to me than anything.
