I just tried to remove a photo from my ad and I messed up the whole thing! The picture is still there and now the text is small! What do I do to fix it and what did I do that messed it up so bad??? And how do I take off the picture? Also, is there a way to make the correct picture BIGGER?

It would probably be easiest to just close the thread and start a new one, rather than trying to locate the error.

If you are using the attachment method to include a photo, there's nothing you can do about the size. The forum software limits image sizes. So the best option is to use a free image host off site. You can just google "free image host" and find several. You'll need to also keep in mind the original image must be big or at least as big as you want. If you increase the size of an image, it can become blurry and pixelated, so its probably better to not increase an image size. When looking at free image host offline, you may face size limits as well but normally its much better than the forum limitations. Personally, I use tinypic.com, it works very well for me.

Xoomified response :D

A suggestion in regards to the clone/counterfeit rule.

Couldn't there be a sub in the main classified section for the "counterfeit" items? That way those that want to offload those items would have a place to do so, and not be in violation of forum rules.

Just an idea.

That defeats the purpose of the rule. We do not in any way want to promote or support thieving counterfeiters. It would really be no different if someone stole something from you and we created a sub for those members to sell stolen merchandise. That is what counterfeit merchandise is, stolen designs. Not to mention most are inferior and dangerous.

Question: How can we mark items as sold if we can't edit the original post?

I posted again (after a couple other people posted) with a list of what was sold, and what was left, and it seems a moderator deleted that post...so I'm at an impasse how to keep people up-to-date on any for sale topic. -Thanks. (not to mention that if we post 3x times with what's sold that our topic will automatically be locked for bumping it 3x times)

I checked your ad, and there were no deleted posts or any other moderator action. Perhaps it was a glitch that prevented your post from appearing? At any rate, that's how folks usually do it once your post can no longer be edited, they'll just post the list in a new post updating what's sold and still available, etc.

Your ad won't be automatically locked for posting. We will lock it ourselves if you blatantly/simply bump it more than three times, or if it's more often than every 12 hours. Posting information about the status of individual items in the ad would not necessarily count towards that.

I'm not going to read through all 9 pages of this thread so my observation may have already been brought up, but many, maybe even most, classified ads have sellers trying to charge WAY TOO MUCH for a used product. I don't care if it's in "mint" condition. It's still used.

I see sellers trying to sell at maybe 10% off new retail price. Some even charge MORE that what we can get it for online.

To those sellers, ... is the matter with you? Stop being greedy. Set your prices to be at least 25% lower than the lowest price you can find for the exact same model new online.

Just my $.02

ah...that's the true intent of the classifieds, a place to sell something that you don't want or use any more, and to give someone an opportunity to get a great deal :)

There is now, however, a maximum of 20% over retail for anything sold.

Much better than it used to be when people were flipping items at ridiculous prices !

I have read all the instructions, guidelines, everything I can find about posting something in the classifieds, but I'm still feeling hesitant, like there's something I don't know that I should know, before I do it. I notice that they all follow a definite format; is that all laid out for you to enter, when you get ready to post something in the classifieds?

Sorry to be so ignorant, but it's the first time I've wanted to list anything, and I want to make sure and do it correctly, not break any rules or confuse anyone. Any other tips for those new to this?

Hello, not sure there is much to be done about this, but I'm noticing a new trend. Sellers are posting a high-demand item FS, and bundling it with a pile of low-value items - cartos, cheap drip tips, etc. - so they can boost the total dollar amount of the sale. So if you have a Hana for sale, you could normally ask for about $300 max based on the 20% rule. Now add a pile-o-crap that might "retail" for $100, but would probably fetch $10 alone in the classifieds, and by magic that listing is now $400.

Of course, these are always "all-or-none" postings, they refuse to split up the items, and never quote the individual asking prices.

Not a huge problem, but definitely a trick being used to circumvent the 20% rule.

As noted, agreed. I reported a thread much like this with a $300.00 mod and a bunch of crap to go along with it that would normally not sell on it's own. Such as the 2 carto's, a piece of wick and other worthless odds and ends that were included to justify the obvious flip/profiteering.
I think I noted in the report that I was going begin collecting my wick and wire clippings and start bundling

I had a classifieds topic closed by a moderator several weeks ago. It was for "clone" items. I PM'd the moderator, twice, about it and haven't heard back (this was from 4/18).

In those PM's I wrote a nice detailed letter explaining how I clearly stated which items were authentic, and how anything I listed as being bought from FastTech I did an internet search on to make sure I wasn't (by accident) listing a prohibited clone item.

...so what should I do? Can you please give me some clarification on the rules (so I don't make this mistake again)? The rules say:

____________________________________________________________

Counterfeit products will not be allowed to be sold on ECF, no matter if the item is described as such or not (see definitions below). Items being sold should never be misrepresented, for example listing a counterfeit product as the authentic product. Members found knowingly misrepresenting a cloned device as authentic WILL lose their Verified Member status and may risk being banned from ECF. Ads found listing a counterfeit product will be closed and member advised of violation.

Unacceptable
Counterfeit - Counterfeits will basically be an exact replica of the original and not so much tied to the shape as it is more the markings. The shape would come into play if there are unique characteristics of the device. This can include grooves, cutouts, coloring, or trademarks in specific locations.

Acceptable
Clone - Can be similar in size, shape, and even design but will not contain the same markings or colors. As long as the device can be distinguished as different from the original, not just by the word clone, it will be considered a clone. Just by declaring a device a clone in it's title or description will not necessarily make it a clone. The clone device should be absent of all characteristics contained in the original, grooves, cutouts, coloring, or trademarks.

**As long as the device can be distinguished as different from the original, not just by the word clone, it will be considered a clone.

____________________________________________________________

So here's what confuses me:

Just looking through the classifieds there's tons of clones listed all over the place. Those items most definitely have the same "grooves, cutouts, coloring" as the original item, which is against the rules, yet those items seem to be allowed in the classifieds. I know the mods can't catch all the violators (if they're even in violation), but with them being as prolific as they are I can't help but believe this practice is OK. - that's why I would like some clarification of the rules.

When we delve further into the rules, all of those clones have the same shape as the original, which is most definitely a "unique characteristic" of the device…which is also listed as being against the rules...

Even under the "acceptable" part of the rule for clones, it says the clone "should be absent of all characteristics contained in the original, grooves, cutouts, coloring". But how would a clone item not have the same cutouts/grooves when how they're made (the manufacturing processes itself) has to be done that way to make the item work in the same way as the original? And furthermore, how would an item not be made out of the same color material, when that material is the most popular one out there for things like this which hold e-liquid or a battery (i.e. stainless steel/silver-color)?

Hopefully I'm making sense in the above (I've re-written it like 5 times now!), and also hope I'm not coming across as being confrontational (which isn't my intention at all), but I do hope I'm giving you a glance into my train of thought, and how these rules don't really clarify what is and isn't allowed very well.

...this is also personally making me scared of listing anything else in the classifieds, especially when I plan on being a vaper for years and years. If I get another warning that could make me lose my ability to use the classifieds section of this forum, and it would be a sin if on such a friendly site like this I'm scared to use the forum to its full potential.
