Having only received mine this Monday I am a little late out of the gate. I have abstained from reviewing the comments or adding my own to remain as objective as humanly possible.

From the reports and reviews I have read prior to this they become better with a few days under their belts, so I abstained in commenting until they were seasoned. In all fairness, those who like them like them allot and those who don't, don't. I am in the latter camp:
  • My single coil LR (shorty) metered at 1.6Ohm and the dual coils @ 1.8Ohm;
  • The single holds 30 drops, the dual 50;
  • Caramel tobacco was used in both; and
  • They were tested on the Omega, a simple 14500 box mod, a regulated 5V box, the GLV2 and the Chamelion.
Pros
  • The fact that you can see the liquid level is a plus as it removes all guess work;
  • They are vapour producing machines;
  • The batting wicks readily as apparent during filling operations; and
  • The DC at 6V provides a reckless throat hit.

The test was started with the DC on a simple box mod firing a single Trustfire 14500. (this is relevant in the Canon review). As many experience @ 3.7V the vapour is cool, lots of it, but cool. I have found the flavour lacking or subdued. Depending on what folks are looking for, this could be a moot point, but a serious necessity from this vaper's expectations. As in all my tests I use a known benchmark as a liquid. Caramel Tobacco is my own juice and has performed well in all my other devices and cartos. It has become my all day vape.

I moved it up to 5V box which improved the heat but flavour was still lacking. Vapour production increased slightly. I then moved it up to 6V on the Chameleon and yup that is where it shines at. Unfortunately the TH is reckless for me. I can only take a 1 sec pull compared to my usual 2-3 secs. If I go past 1sec I gag, and choke, simply not my cup of tea. The flavour started to come out at this voltage. Alright, lets go back to 5V. No, no, no Johnny! Ya can't do that. Once being fired at 6V, the DC failed to produce at 5V.

Now we know that atties and cartos that have been vaped at HV tend to wimp out at lower voltages, but this one is unreal. It barely produced any vapour. So I am stuck at 6V with it, which is totally reckless for me.

OTOH the single coil LR @ 1.6 provides similar results with the addition that the flavour is more pre-dominant than on the DC.

Cons
  • Plastic tube. Although it provides a birds eye view of what is going on inside the carto, it is not metal. Albeit the plastic seems sturdy, it has the capacity to break, especially during winter conditions;
  • Clear tubes also shows what happens to our liquids inside the cartos over time, not something I would show in public. Therefore one is limited to his/her own home;
  • The DC fails to perform at lower voltages, as demonstrated by many. It is reckless at 6V; and
  • Lacks in providing adequate flavour pleasure, which is over compensated with TH @ HV.

In closing, they are vapour producing machines. The single shorty performs better and delivers a better vape than the DC. The DC is a fog machine with reckless TH and warmth, but lacks in providing flavour satisfaction. For those seeking that reckless TH, then this is the carto for you. For those that enjoy a much more subdued vape, with lots of flavour, they fall short IMO.

My regulated 5V box mod which has operated flawlessly with other cartos/atties, would not fire the DC. This was proven on the MM where I could see the voltage sag under load. OTOH the GLV was quite capable of firing it at 4.2V loaded. On the Chameleon with a set of AW LfePo4 batts, it fired at 6.6 and 5.2 (unloaded and loaded respectively). The single coil on the 3.7V box fired it at 3.9 and 3V.

I will continue to vape these and will report future findings should they arise with maturity as mentioned by others. However, I believe that 3 days is more than sufficient in my books to demonstrate their cruising performance. OTOH I believe they finally created a carto that can vape at HV. Of course a post mortem will reveal the necessary info wrt scorching, if any.

Thanks Vlad and as always I will strive to give an honest review on the merits of the unit. They are not for me for the aforementioned reasons, but are definitely suited for other folks. I would give them thumbs up if, and that is a big if, the flavour was in the forefront, which it is not with what I have been accustomed to (read spoiled) with Isaacs cartos! Full stop!

OTOH if these cartos do not scorch, then I believe we have finally found a method in developing cartos for HV. :)

Oh, oh...

Grabbed my 3.7 box mod this am and saw a little spec in the carto, which would have gone undetected in a metal tube. Autopsy revealed my suspicions. Another one bites the dust :( This was the 1.6 LR.

It had a good life and performed well albeit a short life, LR gave his all for me.

I think I'm finding similar results. First, for those looking for a LR carto to replace the Boge LR or 1.25 DC's, the SC from Ikenvape is IT!! I only had one to try so I can't say too much about it as it wasn't a thorough test drive. But, it had a good, warm, "reckless" TH that I need. I can't wait for more to be available! The DC is good! And is still kicking good and strong, but not quite as warm or strong as the SC. But I'm alternating it with my Boges and 1.25 LR's. (because I get better flavor from the DC) I think I may have done the SC in. I had a patch on my eye for a few days ( and quite a few Buds) and not really sure if I did something wrong or it had a natural death. But, it started burning and I can't get it going again. I'm going to ask if Isaac would like to disect it. Or if anybody else would like to I'd happily send it to you.

Again, it is very nice, and cool, to see the juice. (I tend to burn cartos because I don't keep them wet enough. This takes the guessing out of it!)

I don't really want to give it my final opinion until I can try a few more of them, but while, as switched said, they may not give the flavor that other Ikenvape cartos do, it definitely gave me more flavor than what I'm used to with Boge LR's. I actually pulled out some of my "shelved" juices to see how they tasted. It was amazing!

I know we'll have to wait to see how Isaac is going to handle this. But, I'm really looking forward trying some more 1.6 SCs. Then I will be able to give a better opinion.

Again, if you haven't read my other posts, I'm using eGo's. So, on higher voltage, I'm sure the DCs are awesome! But, on the eGo the SC seems to be just right for me. I hope I get a chance to try them again.

Thanks again Isaac! You are the best at working so hard to fulfill your customers needs!

I did a post mortem on the DC yesterday as it had tightened up and was not performing as before. No scorching was evidenced, on the other hand the protective sock was heavily discoloured and IMO sooner or later it would have burnt through. How soon? That is a good question. OTOH I am glad the performance dropped before burning through. In all fairness to the carto - it is not the first one I have scorched and probably wont be the last :)

Maybe be it is just a difference in taste perception. I know I can taste when a carto has gone stale which is not uncommon with prolonged use as what I term "spent liquid" collects in the carto over time (accumulated remnants that do not vaporise). Same thing happens with atties OTOH a simple blow through looks after that. I 86 the stale ones as well.

Hi all,
I was happily surprised with my last order to get 2 of these new 510 clear carto's. Thanks IKEN! I couldn't wait to try them. I'm a heavy vaporer, so I alternate mods cuz I don't want to burn out my carto's to fast. Anyhow, I filled them up and put the larger of the 2 on one of my Bartelby's. Yuck to the flavor! Vapor was less than the Gold 510v2. I vaped on it till a refil was in order. No improvement. So I put it on my GLV2, much better vapor, but still had a bad taste. Not a taste like burning but more of a taste similar to when you get a new atty that you didn't clean first. TH was killer on the GLV2, but that only lasted about a half day.

(Note: between vaping with this, I alternated with my other bartelby with a gold 510v2)

After a week, this carto's draw got stiff. So decided that if I could clean it out, that the flavor and draw would be better. Well the flavor was better but the draw was just as bad. So I gave up. Then I went to the shorter clear 510. On the bartelby it was really good. Much more like the gold 510v2. I really liked it! I then tried it on the GLV2, just for a few vapes and the vape was to warm for me. So I kept it on the bartelby. After the 3rd day, things got weird!

This clear 510 started melting in the normal spot where (when) they burn out. No discoloration to the material on the inside. It was melting around the middle and went about 1/2 way around it. Then my bartelby stopped working!!! WTH??? So stupid me, I changed the battery, nothing. Then I took the carto off, changed to another battery, and the bartelby light came back on. So I kept testing it and it seemed fine. Then I put the clear carto back on, and the bartelby quit working again! So then stupid me, (cuz I don't have a voltage tester or anything), I put the carto on my newer bartelby. Boy! That was dumb! That one quit workin too!!! Now I'm out my bartelby's and had to order a new 3.7 mod. (I went with an ego), as I like to have a 3.7 ecig. NO! I won't be using these clear carto's ever again on any ecig or mod. They are now in the trash! (Note: both bartelby's were 3.7v.)

I was really hoping these things would work out, as I really liked that you can see into them. But I'll stick with the gold 510's and 808 carto's.

Thanks Iken for including me as one of your testers! :vapor:
