Be careful of vendors who say they don't use diacetyl. They may be using acetyl propionyl, instead, which is considered just as bad. And don't let what anyone says fool you... If you're vaping anything with any custard notes, they're using something to get that flavor profile. There's really no way around it; some juices from companies who switched flavorings never taste the same again.

I agree, we just can't be sure what's in any liquid. Just because the seller says so isn't good enough.

diacetyl is an organic compound typically used to produce a buttery flavor. It is used in a juice that I am a particular fan of called "Bandit" which is an apple pie/crust flavored e-liquid. Why that particular compound (if it ever was) would be used in a peach flavored e-liquid is beyond me.

You're right about the flavor of diacetyl, but you would be surprised what it is actually found in. Then again, AFAIK when it's in non buttery type flavors there is not much of it.

I had a look at the Clearette website. Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling they are a bit on the shady side.

They say their juice ingredients are 'approved for individual use by the FDA'. Probably for ingestion, but not for vaping.

'We have instituted technology that far exceeds other brands’' and 'Clearette Electronic Cigarettes are not only patented' ... Have a look at their offerings. They're selling rebranded Chinese hardware.

IMO it's marketing to people they feel are not well enough informed to know what they're doing. Makes me not trust anything they say.

I think diacetyl is a big concern for many. I know I have stopped using juices that contain it. Which almost makes me chuckle because I smoked for so long and never cared about fifty-eleven other chemicals found in cigarettes.

I started making my own for this reason, but I honestly have no idea what is in the flavorings I purchase. I personally believe all ingredients should be mandatory to post on each flavoring. Good luck to you and happy vaping.

Sorry for all the butterscotch and custard lovers out there. Ain't no way around it, really, without it tasting "off". I tasted some "non diacetyl/non acetyl propionyl" custard/cream based flavors from a Mafia-inspired line from Mountain Oak Vapors in Cleveland, Tennessee. Supposedly Dimitri "the Vaping Greek" says chromatography came out and it is both diacetyl/acetyl propionyl free, but during a taste test... they just didn't taste right (at least to me, everyone's tastebuds are unique). Again, just like anything else in life, the stuff that tastes the best kills you the quickest.

Capone, Blueberry, Tort Electronic Cigarette Flavors, E Cigarette Refill Vapor

Root beer and almond flavors also tested positive.

Hi all - just my two cents...but I asked a company that I've liked and been using for awhile now if their juices were diacetyl free...their website says they are but I wanted to hear it said to me. They assured me they were. I had a lab do tests on the pomegranate flavor they had sent as a freebie to me...lab says it has diacetyl. I'm not naming the company yet bc I want to contact them first to hear their response... but I'm disappointed that they were (seemingly) untruthful about this...and I also wanted to share this bc it was NOT a buttery/custardy flavor.
