ugh so I did something in my photobucket account last night and every embedded image I've ever posted got deleted. It wasn't intentional at all, so I'm posting that lab result test again for reference. I would have just edited my original post but I can't.

Also, if anyone ever hears back from Flavor West regarding this test, can you please post the info here. 10 days ago they said they were going to check with their "raw material supplier" to see what ingredients were in the flavour, that's the last I've heard. Can't take that long can it?

vangrl,

Could you (or somebody else) explain what's up with the 11.5 dilution factor in that table?

Is there a comparison to a concentrate or something? If so, wouldn't the correct figure to highlight (box) be the 1st one on the left (15.6), instead?

Just trying to make sense of it..

Thanks!

Not sure if this helps, this quote is from the company that had the test done

"The test detected 1797ug of diacetyl per ml, I quote "ug/ml e-liq (ug/ml e-liq). This is in the area I made a black circle around at the top. mg/ml ratio with eliquid nicotine strength refers to the quantity of nicotine in 1ml, this would be the same but on a ug scale.
The 11.5 would likely refer to the number of grams/ml actually in one of our 10ml bottles, off the top of my head Im not entirely sure to be honest. I will have to go over the test results in detail this evening and see what I can come up with, if I cant figure it out Ill contact the lab for clarification."

the 2 quotes below are from another Canadian company that also uses Enthalpy labs to test e-liquid. This company has not tested F.W, but has some knowledge of the test that Enthalpy performs. They are referring to the F.W test in this quote.

"The 2 columns on the test list results for eliquid first - then diluted for the full testing results. The full test gives details of each dilution. It's a chemical dilution - used to verify testing results.
If I remember correctly - the right side (dilution) is what's used to compare for OSHA levels. "

"no one has the raw data here to give you - nor the details of dilution. The tests are conducted and published, by an accredited lab (accredited by both Health Canada and the FDA) and they are using a protocol for eliquid that was developed in concert with AEMSA and according to what ECTA felt we needed to know about our eliquids."

Didn't realize I was criticizing, being ironic & being petty..

I was actually asking legitimate questions.. How long has tobacco been regulated for (& not necessarily by the FDA)? And I've yet to see an ingredient list on a pack of smokes (obviously it wouldn't fit).. or some sort of warning label saying to keep away from pets (like my juice bottles do).. or some sort of child-proof locking mechanism on a pack of cigs (again, like my juice bottles do)...

What has regulation done for tobacco? And why does it seem like my unregulated juice bottles have that much more safeguards in place, including fewer chemical additives?

I understand the health-consciousness of it all.. That many former-smokers/now-vapers have woken up about putting stuff in their bodies.. I'm right there with ya!

But I'm not so sure that regulation is the answer.. because again, looking at regulated tobacco, I'm not seeing much in terms of improving safety of tobacco products... Even though tobacco has been around for a heck of a lot longer than e-juice...

As for arsenic? Check a certificate of analysis for USP kosher VG... Less than 1ppm (part per million) of arsenic... Tiny amount.. but how much is truly "safe" as it pertains to how we're taking it into our bodies?

And how many here knew that tobacco smoke contains diacetyl? Heck, I didn't even know until earlier tonight.. Obviously two wrongs don't make a right, no... And I'm sure there's a difference in diacetyl concentration levels, especially depending on any particular juice & any particular brand of cigs...

But yes, as smokers, we were inhaling diacetyl every time we lit up a smoke...

Little creepy, huh?

....., I totally misread your post. Sorry. I think I might need to use a breathalyzer before I post. Ha.

Again, sorry.

I ordered 50ml of CLS from Nickoticket and asked them "after" I got the juice if it contained diacetyl and they said yea it does. :( Tasted so good...
edit: They also said its impossible to make a custard flavor juice without using it or its substitutes, yet I've asked around and there are many places to claim they dont use it at all even in there custards. Im playing it safe for now and finding some other adv, probably go with something sour and sweet.

From vaperite...

We are working towards becoming a diacetyl free company, however some of our flavors do contain traces of it. If you do not want juice containing diacetyl I would not purchase juices that are vanilla flavored, mention "Creme or Cream, or nutty. Anything else you will be fine with until we can fully make that transition. Thank .you for reaching out to us..

I have ZERO problems with this and think Vaeprite is a stand-up company -- and also one of the OGs.

so 30-something pages later, how reliable is this list?

So many vendors claim to have Diacetyl-and-substitute free juice but do not have lab analysis to back up their claims...

totally unreliable. Most vendors are just going by what the flavour manufacturers tell them, and we know that's not always the truth

I have always thought the flavoring manufacturers should have/possess material safety data sheets on their products. In addition, they should have sheets on their raw ingredients. I'm not buying "we don't know". I can express this conversation more, however, until more facts are presented it is just a rehash of what most folks already know/or should know.

I do get the message of "well you smoked cigs before". However, I deem that irrelevant in this presentation/direction of diacetyl/acetoin/diketones free flavoring/eliquids. I mix e-liquids for a few folks now and I do know about Tort laws/negligence.

Can you name me a couple?

Rainbow Vapor tests, and they said they are going to start showing "proof" of those tests (that was on a radio interview)

Theravape tests. You can e-mail them for theirs. They just got a couple of tests back that showed small amounts of Diacetyl in 2 juices so they are working on replacing that flavour in them.

Vapemate tests and I believe they said that they are trying to work on a dumb downed version of the tests so that normal folk can understand them.

Read this thread, it will give you an idea of whose doing what. Most ECTA members are testing right now.
