Now all we have to do is get Cap't Brian to make stabilized wood mods... :p.

Good luck with that. I am pretty sure he has done them before and had problems.

Nice review though. I am excited to see the dna Destroyer 26650 combos next batch. Hoping to add a 4th RSM to my arsenal.

Man it's late, gotta hit the hay... will answer pm's tomorrow...

don't think so. the dark streaks look like a couple of lightning bolts. never seen anything like it elsewhere.

Sounds like black and white ebony to me, or a spalted wood?

NIght all, arrrr

Oooh... is it the spalted he had on his website video? This one:
Cutlass model reviews

Can't link the pix here because he's got the pix links disabled:(.
Spalted wood is stabilized wood, so he's already working with stabilized woods... I want a dyed and stabilized DNA30... I'll pay for and send you the wood if you'll do it:p.

Hi GG,
A friend just mentioned this thread to me and am now subscribed. These are truly beautiful works. Guess I'll be seeing more of you :).

Hi xtreme101:)!

What is bizarre to me is that this huge 26650 mod doesn't weigh much more than my Woodvil 18650. I don't know how that's possible... going to go put them both on a scale.

Woodvil 18650 = 6.2 oz
Cruiser 26650 = 7.8oz

That's with battery (the MNKE battery alone weighs way more than the 18650 battery). So the 26650 Cruiser is LIGHTER than the 18650 Woodvil?? Can't be... maybe my woodvil is heavy because it's bloodwood, which is very dense. That still doesn't seem right... but I'm not complaining:).

Relative heights of wood mods- all 18650 except the 26650 Cruiser, Bogger box is VV, so it's taller:

Thickness difference... Cruiser 26650 is thickest (which should mean that the 18650 Cruiser should be about the size of a dibi):

Ahoy all, happy Tuesday!

Getting caught up on desk caddies and paperwork. I'm hoping I hear from evolv soon so I can begin the next batch. I should have started it a week ago!

To answer a few questions previously asked with a little honest personal history;

I don't accept customer supplied wood anymore because I also no longer accept custom pre-orders and that is the same thing.

For the first 3 years of Redskymods I worked 70 to 90 hour weeks, under the heavy pressure of pre-orders and deadlines and t'words the end it was too much.

I had what you could call a 'breakdown' the end of last year and after a few weeks of rest and reflection, I decided to no longer work under deadlines at all. It may disappoint people that they can't get exactly what they want but the alternative is to not get any mods at all.

I am a one man shop with no assistance and I am now managing to make a very modest living and working only 30 - 40 hour weeks with an occasional day off. I'm relatively happy now and don't want to get stressed out again. I'm half deaf, half blind, forgetful and dealing with arthritis. I need to recognize the limits that advancing years has forced upon me.

So when I say "no" to requests of custom mods, please understand it's not because I am just lazy. If I say yes to one person then the next thing I know I will be doing pre-orders for everyone again. Sorry!

Ok, enough whining for today... back to work I go!

On a positive note, I think this next batch is gonna be one of the most awesome I've ever done.

Last batch I went with some layered wood for bodies and retro designs. This batch is going to see some of the best woods I've used in the past. Like Black and White ebony, Bloodwood, Ziricote and Australian Mahogany bodies along with the usual and I'm pulling out the best of the panel woods I still have. I found a few left over pieces of stabilized woods that I will use for side and door panels along with some spalted woods, Koa and other great stuff.

This will be the best woods I have and you don't put Hello Kitty stickers on a Mercedes, so no engraving either!

Yo ho !

Greetings crew and welcome to the thread xtreme my friend!

Why! Why must it be the best batch ever when I'm closing on my house on Thursday and still need thousands of dollars worth of stuff for it!

I'm so sorry, but now to add insult to injury I found a half piece of stabilized burl, desert ironwood I'm pretty sure, and I think It might have been left over from one of your orders a couple years ago? Enough for a small mod.

Not sure, but SORRY! just in case, arrrrrrrrr

I feel your pain. We just closed on a some land up north. We don't even have water out there yet! We do have almost 10 years though before hubby retires so we can take our time. Congrats on the upcoming closing!!

I don't have anything with desert ironwood, so we're good there my friend :D

It's a gorgeous wood though! I did send ya some Honduran rosewood burl a year ago now probably.

Thanks! It's exciting and nerve wracking at the same time.
