I have My SX rocking... Just cant seem to master TC, tried both NI200 and Ti1... Though I haven't really had the time to commit to it
Get some long machine screw and wrap around it
Insert to the post, tighten it and unscrew.
You will get nice even spaced coil
Make sure you build below 0.1

Subohmies,

That is on my to do list, I tried a spaced wrapped around a mandrel, don't think it was even enough

The ideal build is quoted at 0.25 but anything 0.1-0.15 is perfect. The dna chip won't do below 0.08, not sure about the SX's chip lowest level. I always do mine on a mandreal, wrap it with Gaia of approx 1 to 1.5mm then hold your thumb at one end and push the coil up tight to it, it will spring back open a little, just use a blade (razor) to space the coil evenly. Keep the coil on the mandreal until the legs are fully fitted in place, wrapping the legs works well, some attys don't tend to work well putting the wire through the home unless it has a flat base to squash it agai st, if the post is hollow the wire often breaks so wrapping around the screw is a safer bet. The screws must be done up tight. [emoji106]

Robbie,

I was getting anemic vapor and getting "dry wick" on the display with a freshly squonked with...

Is that a spaced or contact coil?

do some utube vids, thiers some cool ways to do the coils with a small threaded screw and they are perfect coils then.

Thanks for all the tips so far, I think something is wonky with my SX chip..

Got a nice evenly spaced Ni200 coil built (Single, 2.5 mm, 10 wrap, 28g)... Checked ohms on my Coil master Tab 0.14 ohms, like I expected.. Put it on the SX... 0.47 ohms... WTF? Double checked, joules mode, Ni200 coil...

Repeated the whole process again but with 11 wraps, still shows .47 ohms

Now I am seriously scratching my head

Edit: Just to double check, the Tmod and the SX read a Kanthal coil within .02 ohms of each other

Did you check your 510? Try backing out the 510 center screw in the mod 1 turn.

Not sure if that the problem, but
Did you test fire it before screw your atty on your mod? If you do
You need to cool down the coil before you screw it on your mod and lock the resistence

Chowder,

I will double check the 510 in the SX mod...

Subohmies,

You may be into something..

With the SX chip, you use the fire button to navigate the menu categories.. I have a tendency to press the button just a hair longer then necessary.. Maybe that is pulsing the coil and warming it up ever so slightly... I did notice when resting the temp of the coil read 32F not room temp which should have been around 68F

Thanks for the tips!

When I use tc I have been using standard micro coil styled coils, I take a little extra tone to make sure they are totally perfect, I've never used a screw to wrap on or a spaced coil but I know a lit of you do. I didn't spend a lit of time with ni200, once I got my hands on titanium wrote it was over. The titanium I use is 28ga. I do like 7to9 wraps 2.5id.

You want to make sure you have more wraps so you can get your res up as high as possible, especially with ni200. And most importantly you want to build it, let it set for a while to cool down, and then lock your res (hold up+down) together without pressing fire first. That will lock your resistance, you'll see the lock res screen come up. If you'd not locking your res your in for a whole bag of worms that smell like what your describing. I'll take a pic n show ya.

Tbev,

I was not locking the resistance.... I will give that a try tomorrow...

Thanks...

You mentioned gettin the Ni200 res as high as possible. Any reasons why? Back when the SXM I think they were like aiming for 0.065 or something around there, saying that's where the sx350j board will perform better..? I've not been in the SXM thread for a while now.. Has the recommended res changed?

Cool, if your not liking it just let me know, we'll get it figured out. I'd recommend running kanthal first if you want, just to get the hang of the board.

Tbev,

I have the variable wattage side of things figured out...I never had much interested in Temp control before I got the SX Tmod... I am just wanting to figure it out and give it a try to see if it's as good as every one says

No way I am parting with my SX Tmod
