I had two dna Hanas (PIFed one to a nice lady here on ECF) and one had to be sent back for a new chip that had very little use under it's belt. It was barely out of warrantee and they did right by me but I am cautious of anything that isn't reliable. With my mechs, they are as reliable as I treat them and since I sortof baby my stuff, they should last forever [emoji6]

I like it but it's half-assed compared to the power a mech puts out.

How exactly do you exceed battery voltage with a mech?
That's right you don't.

Some flavors work better at different power ranges. See a few where the flavor profile changes, with different flavors becoming more or less prominent at different power levels. Nice to just change the power setting to find the taste you want now instead of swapping coils.

Not to mention the volume + flavor you can get with multi-coil builds at higher than battery voltage.
a single 0.5ohm col at 30 W is not the same as 2 1ohm coils with 15W each.
Never mind the limits on total power that you have when winding coils. You just cannot get the flexibility.

That said, I prefer mechanical too. I just don't discount the utility of a controllable boost circuit.

What would be cool is you mod with an option for several different boards.
A space to hold the board and a set of parts that convert the nice simple mechanical switch circuit into the configuration needed for a board.

If the board breaks, swap back to mechanical.

Don't want 40W, then get a 20W or 30W board.
If they latter have a higher power board, it's likely to be usable too.

You supply the parts needed except the board. User buys his board and wires it up.
You have no responsibility for the electronic used.

But, hey it's YOUR design too, so do what YOU want with it.

I can't do anything to change the squonk holes. Back in the beginning, I went thru a ton of different ways to cut them out. I settled on the way they are done for a number of reasons. The bottom line is it simply works the best this way.
The way it is now I can't just add another cut to remove the center vertical, nothing would line up nicely if I just cut it off. Additionally if I just cut a chunk out like a 3d printed feeder, it wood look like I just cut a chunk out of the side, you would lose the angles and it wouldn't look/function as well. I have one, I like it, but you have to squeeze that bottle harder to get the same results as you do with my feeders. It's because the bottle is allowed to move away vs. being held tightly in place.

Thanks for the reply T... Sorry to hear your device won't function properly without the center vertical in it. Just thought that since a Sumpin' or G'deal BF squonks perfectly fine, yours would also... Even the REO squonks great without the bottle being held in tightly. Great looking device, just can't get past the look of the center vertical though. If that was gone it would be a no brainer... My loss, I guess...

It will function fine but having a lose bottle doesn't work as well, not a big deal but it's not as good. I'm not going to spend time making my mods work less efficiency. Other mods work fine like that, that's great, your used to that, fantastic.... Like I said I have a 3d printed bottom feeder as well I'd assume it works better than a round bottle in a square casing but it's still not tight. Being tight makes it squonk better.

I almost made a dna40 model, I have a dna40 one myself, but it's one of gdeal's. It's nice but al the end of the day it still can't hang with the mechs and it's not worth the risk. If I would have done it when I was thinking about it, I would have been replacing boards and cursing evolv. Don't get me wrong they did well imo fixing the problem. ....finally... ask anyone who bought a flask or a shark, not very cool to drop money on a new to n send it back for any amount of time...let alone a month plus for some people. I actually just got my green light to rma the chip in my feder, I'll be tearing it down and sending in the board for replacement this week. I have two actually, I didn't even bother putting the other board in a feeder I just threw it in a hana 30 box... primarily just to make sure it isn't bad.

I like it but it's half-assed compared to the power a mech puts out.. and at the end of the day, who burns their wicks in a bottom feeder anyways. ..

Testify my Brother! I couldn't agree more!

Hey brookj, I did a little extra finishing on your mod, after I blasted it, then it looked cool so I have it a fully brushed finish. That's not something I usually do without charging extra, it takes a long time, but the end result is bead blasted squonk holes with a brushes finish. Here's what it looks like, in shipping it today either way but if you want I can leave it like this, otherwise I'll bead blast it life you wanted originally, either way is no problem I just wanted to offer it. Let me know bud.
