Wow, agreed... I would never engineer it like that. Bear in mind the top plate on that 510 is 1mm. Based on that fact it would seem that the milled out part where the 510 installs is about .7mm of aluminum left to deal with the forces on the atty. under 4mm and I would be leery.wow, thats as thin as ive seen a 510...ever
Really glad to hear this!! I certainly feel better about them now! Sounds like you do alsoWell it would seem I should have listened to Momma..... When I was a bright eyed young boy she would always tell me don't knock it before you have tried it.. Due to me not ordering the taps at the same time I ordered the first batch of 510s there was some lag in being able to actually try the 510 with the ultra fine threads. I have now tried it and the threads work fine and go together silky smooth. I cranked it down far tighter than you will ever need to with an atty and it felt rock solid. (It also helps that the LBC has a 6mm deep top for plenty of area for perfect threads). At under 3mm thick I would be very concerned. At 6mm I don't forsee any issues. I will also say this: I'm glad I'm running the threads on a mill with the best aluminum cutting oil available, running that tap in and getting it dead straight freehand would be a nightmare.
Next step; removing the threads on the bottom 4mm of the pin.
In regards to the message from Terry that I posted; I suppose his message was a little harsh but we all have our days. I certainly have. Right Warfrat, Muzik, Yorgi?

We'll see. I will admit they thread in very smooth.I hate to say it here but personally i love the fine threads and use the vt over fat daddy just for that reason. with fine thread you get much more thread count engagement in a smaller area so even though technically thread for thread a course thread is stronger, taking into account the fact of more threads per mm means that the fine thread winds up actually being stronger overall and allows for a much shallower overall design. a .5mm thread count gives double the thread count over a 1.0 pitch and 3 times as much as a 1.5mm which also translates to a better ground connection too...

Glad to see your change of heart.
My experience with Perry (not Terry) has been very different. I heartily agree with your take on "grandstanding" and "name dropping": hate, hate, hate it. Only thing worst, for me, is sycophancy.
After your retake, or reset, I went ahead and ordered two (2) that I want to try in my VR Wood Mods from NZ. We will see...
BTW I ordered the Cloud Cap for the SnapDragon from Eden Mods (not impressed) and the Velocity Posts for it from Australia. Very excited about those, though they seem on a very slow trek to the US.

The shell isn't.... I was only using the shell. The shell is a single piece of stainless. The FDV guts are garbage however. The VT 510s are an order of magnitude better than the FDV 510s... as evidenced from my recent replacement in one of my VR Wood Mods.

Yup... And copious use of heat block paste to keep it flexible.Braid? Nice solution!
I tried braid on my Peko during beta testing and found it wicks any stray eliquid to the other end. Best I can tell by the photos mine was finer braid so perhaps won't be a problem?Braid? Nice solution!
