It does step down to 3.6v. A full battery is 4.2v. It won't fire below 3.6v though. That should be enough step down for almost everyone.
Well, I'm just going by Phil Busardo's numbers. It seems that at 3.6v a 1.8 ohm-ish coil fires at close to 4.0v. Not a big deal for 99% of you but I'm a sissy vaper. I ran into this with the iStick which basically can't fire under 4.1v. (RMS volts... not that Eleaf calculation crap).

Not a problem with an RBA but I've grown quite fond of the nautilus mini and the highest resistance those coils come in are 1.8 ohms.

The Vamo will shut down or reset with a bad battery. When I first got my V5, I only had 18650's for my flashlights and they're not high amp batteries so the V5 would shut off or reset all the time. I bought a pair of Efest 20a batteries and that solved my issues but the 510 did suck. I have 2 (1 brand new) that I don't use. I found I like box mods way more than tube mods.

Then I guess I have six bad batteries. I've marked them and noted when it happened with each to make sure it wasn't just one, and it happens with them all. It's possible I suppose, but the odds are somewhat in my favor. Even if that is the problem, I'm with you on liking the box style better these days.

That's actually a max 10A continuous, 20A pulse battery. Given the test results, people would still be better off with the LG HE2 (or Efest 2500mah re-wrap) or the Samsung 25R: Test of Efest IMR18650 3100mAh (Purple) 2014

Cotay,

The detailed tests I've seen on battery sites support your post. The purple Efests aren't what they're cracked up to be.

From what I've read, LG is phasing out the HE2 (red wrap) and replacing it with the HE4 (yellow wrap), which has similar specs but lower internal resistance for better performance. Neither the LG HE4 nor the Samsung 25R give quite the performance of the Sony VTC5, but the LG and Samsung are much cheaper than the nearly impossible to find Sony.

Well, my logic is for this mod, being a max output of 10A, and a portable stealthy vape device, 3100 mah gives you a longer time between battery swaps and the 10 amp continuous results from the efest, falls within the specs of the cloupor.

Not quite. At higher discharge rates, they have about the same capacity as the 2500mah batteries, maybe less.

Right behind you...
The Samsung and LG batteries perform better than the Efest 2500mah battery too.

Well, maybe, since "everyone knows" that the Efest 2500mAh is an LG HE2 re-covered in a purple wrapper. Still no proof, but all the tests I've seen seem to match up 1:1 with an HE2.

Mine too :D

Where did you get yours from? Mine's from FastTech (ordered 12/19).

I pre-ordered from VaperCompany back on 12-15. I should have got it late last week but USPS held it up for a few days.

It just got here. This thing is seriously awesome. Much smaller then it looks in photo's. Nice weight, solid feel, door looks good w/o any rattle, and nice buttons. My first impression is a win.

And as a added bonus VC included a VTC4!

I'm with you. My VAMO v3 tube has been sitting on the shelf for months. My v5 box gets regular use in the house, though. With a 1600mAh 7.4V LiPo it runs quite a while (6 - 8 hrs) and pumps out every bit of 30W. Of course, it's not as tiny as the Mini... I had regular issues with the v3 resetting, usually when switching from dual 350s to a 650. I found that stretching the cap spring always solved the resetting problem. I too MUCH prefer a box mod to a tube, however.

I just got mine. The buttons are excellent and a very slight rattle from just the up and down buttons (I had to really shake it close to my ear to hear it). The battery door is very snug with no play. In fact, I can't slide the door down so I have to pick it up from the bottom edge. No side to side play.

This is exactly what I was looking for as far as size and battery requirements. I'm not too crazy about the 510 so I'll probably replace it with a VT 510 and I have a few DNA40 boards so one might find it's way into the Mini.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this mod (even with the .8 sec delay from sleep :p)
