I tried many times with TPA coffee (clear), and with several other coffee flavorings. It was always unvapeable. You can make the coffee extraction with plain coffee, even decaf. I sold all of my other coffee flavorings.

The only thing that saved me was getting the coffee flavor from VB. Once I got the % right, she was ok.Thank you both! I think I'll go with the extract. The kalua was too sweet (or something) for her. (but I've added it to some of my bacco mixes.) She just wants straight black coffee.

I'm sure there are vendors and veteran diyers out there that do it well, but I've to date not been able to stomach any vendors' that I've tried, and the only flavor I've found to date is the real thing Plus...it's cheaper and you can easily make LOTS!!!

Should be highly soluble in both water and PGA, so probably also in PG and VG.
What if one dissolved some instant in VG/DW at something like 10-50x normal drinking strength?
Instant granules should basically be the flavour/solid parts of liquid coffee, minus the natural oils. That the oils are missing of course means some flavour notes are missing. (My personal opinion is that haters of instant have either never had a good one or are missing the oils - IME it is *very* easy to fool someone who usually drinks drip coffee to believe properly prepared instant is "real coffee", but almost impossible to fool someone who prefers their coffee either "cooked" or Turkish/Eastern European. French Press and espresso drinkers somewhere in between, depending on how fresh their beans normally are.)

I was just coming to this thread to ask that. I've tried the coffee extraction, and it's pretty good, but it seems a bit 'dusty' or 'smoky' to me. I'm wondering about the presence of oils, myself. I also thought that instant may not have the oils.
I've found quite a few references to people thinking of trying it, but none reporting results.
I like Folgers instant, and drink it when I don't feel like messing with the Keurig. I expect that I'll try it soon.
i dont agree with the above "opinion"..i drank instant coffee for years and loved it... give me a cup of freshly ground coffee, and a cup of instant...i can tell the difference

I think I can usually tell the difference too (and I drink mainly instant), IF the non-instant coffee is freshly ground, and made using some other method than drip/filtering. Which is why I believe it is the oils that are the crucial difference.
But people who are used to drinking slightly stale, pre-ground, drip? They usually rave about how very good the coffee I pour them out of a thermos is... and then go on to bash instants.. What I just served them out of the thermos was of course instant, usually a blend of several instants, that has been allowed to steep for minimum five minutes, lol.
The other possible difference between brewed coffee and instant might be acidity. I prefer dark roasted coffees (usually less acidic), which is probably a reason why I don't mind, even often prefer a (GOOD) instant. People who prefer very light roasts are usually the most vehement instant-haters, and I don't think this is a coincidence. (I sometimes keep a jar of the horror that is Nescafé Gold just for mixing with nicer darker instants for people who are of the light-roast persuasion).
Well, instant coffee is itself an extract with the water removed...
And for the final vaping product, according to this definition it is aways a blend.
Aargh, I have n+1 tobacco flavours to experiment with (including a home brew extract) before I can try this out... If anyone makes some experiments with instant, please post your procedures and results!
i like good strong coffee...lived by Seattle(known for good coffee),worked in Miami one winter(learned to love Cuban coffee)... i do like lots of cream & sugar in mine but the coffee still needs to be good...not Starbucks which always tastes burnt
I have no desire to use this method with instant coffee, but I can't help but wonder if it would be as kind to our atties and cartos as the regular method. I am thrilled with the longevity of my cartos using this extraction method.
I always detect a, for lack of better words, 'powdery' texture when I drink instant coffee. I would guess that there are more solids in instant coffee than in a filtered brew.
i think of crystals when i drink it..no matter how well i disolve it..maybe its a mental thing more than anything..lol
now i grew up drinking Sanka and Postum(no longer made) its something that i would like for old times sake more than anything..lol
I tried this using the directions included in this thread and my bottles darn near melted. They were very soft. Is that normal? Is that ok? I don't want to vape coffee/plastic extract.
I tried this method last night with sucsess, I made a Duncan doughnuts french vanilla.First I put 5% in and my co-worker loved and I thought why not and made it @ 7% in a 80/20 pg/vg blend. The co-worker I made for just loves it, says it just like the cup he drinks in the morning. So I am here to say thank you for this method and one very easy DIY recipe.
I made some extract from French Vanilla coffee from Target (the generic kind) and I just tried it today. I did 4% coffee, and 1% each of Bavarian Cream, Caramel and Cotton Candy...holy crap. Finally a coffee that I can taste! Thank you so much for this!
That's exactly what I did and I love it. I used LA's Bavarian Cream because I like the taste better, which one did you use?
