I don't have the V3. Mine is just the V2, I think anyway, but it's all I use. Once you get the hang of it, I think you'll love it. Some people who use thinner wire, occasionally have trouble with the coils 'pancaking', but it can be overcome with a little practice.

I had the original v1 with the older screws, and just got one of the V3's that Russ had up in the contest. I love it. It's much better than the v1. I never used the gizmo, but I know Russ said that it was somewhat difficult to maintain the proper tension, but the coil master is so easy peasy. I've never had need to wind backwards, but if I ever recoil my marquis again, I will use that feature then from what I understand. Love that it's bigger, much easier for my hands to hold and much more comfy. Like the longer rods, and didn't think I would til I used them.

It works really well. I never bought into the coil master thing, then Russ did that giveaway haha. I've done a video on it, but it came up to like 20 minutes and a lot of people don't watch videos that long haha. I have a picture to show what the coil master can handle. It's not Reo related, but this is 4 strands of 28g kanthal twisted together. It handled it no problem. I like it better than the wire gizmo. Literally just wrap with the coil master, put it in the rda, strum the coil a few times and it's good with glowing inside to outside.

I had the v2, sold it, and went back to the gizmo. With the Coilmaster the coil wound really loose on the mandrel, and with the Gizmo, I like that the coil winds really tight on the mandrel I'm using.

Sounds like you need to move the little screw in on the one part for smaller wire. Of you never adjusted that small screw, it's set from factory for large wire.

I always had the screw set towards the inside, just never seemed to wrap tight on the mandrel.
hmmm that's odd, mine does fine. It doesn't make tensioned coils, but it makes them very even. Only trouble I've had is a couple times I mashed too hard on the top cap, and wire coiled on itself, but that was my fault. But that's why there are so many things available. Use what works for you.

Yeah, the putting too much pressure on the top cap took me a time or two to get used to not doing that, :) They do make a nice looking coil, and the coils not being tight to the mandrel may not even matter, I dunno. Who knows, Maybe I'll give the v3 a try sometime.

I'm in the same boat as you. After wrapping my own coils for the past year and a half, using drill bits, I also finally broke down and bought a coil master v3. I ordered mines through RTD vapor, along with some batteries. I originally went in to order the AW's that I needed to replace a couple of my older ones. But as I was browsing through the site, the Coil Master somehow ended up in my cart. :).

I'll be reporting back, as well, once I wrap a few coils with it.
