Better results.
Still not able to get past about 55w for more than a one or two second puff without a slightly dry hit, but much better. I'm guessing viscosity of my juice is the issue. Good flavor, Great TC.

My experience is that the real difficulty is with the wicking. There seems to be a fine line between too much and not enough wick. Also, as many have noted, the spring that lifts the platform isn't strong enough and I suspect that in most cases the platform is bottomed out by using lots of cotton. I also find that lower power seems to work better, although the vape is cooler.

Yeah, that's my issue, i like a warm vape. Seems mesh is not for me...

Wicking is not that difficult with the Profile RDA. If using cotton, approx. 3x times that of a 3mm coil is needed. Rayon you will want to use more. I use 3/4 of a muji pad with the outer layers removed. Lightly rolled (no Scottish pull/roll technique), and cut just so the ends can touch the bottom of the well. No thinning but lightly fluffed to remove any compression from the cut. With squonking, the wick is open enough to allow juice to seep through the cotton and be squeezed through the mesh. It also wells up a bit allowing for the cotton tails to soak. Fully saturated I can get 20 to 30 hits, no dry burns, at approx. 60 watts before the need to squonk again. Can’t say I’ve ever chain vaped that many hits in a row, but I do, on occasion, chain vape – again with no dry hits and the same amount of hits before saturation as above. Obviously juice dependent, but my wicks last for months. Only use 1 spring in the pressure plate...I see no need to use more.

Mesh is very low in mass, which is greatly influenced by both saturation and airflow. It does not scale in heat as a much larger coil. I demonstrated this using Vandy Vape 200 SS316L mesh by viewing the rise in resistance. Link below.

We can see the resistance plateau even after applying more power which demonstrates the cooling influence saturation and airflow has on the strip.

I have not tried the SS mesh HigherState has used - it looks to be of very low in mass, much lower than the OFRF Kanthal strip. I mostly use the OFRF Kanthal mesh with the top row of airflow closed. Not hot but warm enough for me – subjectively I’d put it in the ~220°C range. The Profile Unity RTA using the same mesh would be a little warmer

@HigherStateD – if willing to forgo Temp Control, give the OFRF 0.13ohm Kanthal strip a try, willing to bet it will provide a warmer vape.

I may give that a try, but I'm usually not a fan of the taste of kanthal. Based on what you've written, I think I'm just using too much wick. About how much of a graham's strip would you say is needed?

Too much to me is not being able to thread the wick under the mesh strip. I’ve used as much as a full Muji pad and can still achieve similar results. Squonking is not as efficient, juice wells up instead of being pushed through the wick, but it still works and with no ill effects.

With Rayon, I used 2 ropes. Again, squonking is not as efficient, juice wells up instead of being pushed through, but still the same outcome if you let the wick soak. In another thread someone mentioned using both cotton and rayon, with cotton on the bottom and the rayon up against the mesh. I’ve never tried it so no comment.

I just do not see the Profile RDA as being difficult to wick. Ensure your mesh is formed correctly and that you have enough wick underneath it to avoid any gaps. As mentioned, I have not used the mesh strips you have so perhaps they are the culprit.

I have used some Kanthal wire that gives that “sucking on a coin” taste. But the OFRF strip does not. At least not for me.

I've seen some amazing decks and even more amazing builds around ECF. Hoping this will be a thread for you all to show them off.

No rules - just let ppl know whst the deck is, and what coils you are using.

Dual, Single, DL, MTL anything goes. Everybody from a first coil newbie to an expert like the ones mentioned below are welcome.

@Tralfaz Come on down... @Skunk! You too, and @ShowMeTwice Post your MTL Claptons - please

I have so many RBAs coiled and ready to go but I can’t always remember which coil I used since I’ve been playing around with about 6-7 types of pre made coils!! They all look the same to me ha ha except mine which are just single ss coils.
I’ll try to post something next time I build.

View attachment 852511 Back on topic, more caterpillar track from geekvape, this time in the recurve, 2.5mm ID, 0.20OHM
Those are not Caterpillar track coils. Just because you call an Escort a Corvette doesn't make it a Corvette. Just because geekvape says it's caterpillar wire doesn't make it so. It's not what you say it is.
