coil pro's, give some advice on a build..

I am making a dual coil wrap with 26g kanthal. I did about 6 wraps around a 1/8 drill bit for each. i know i should be hitting in the .3-.4 resistance range, but im coming out at 1.2 when i read on my multimeter.. any major things i should look for that could cause this? no hot legs, and the coils are heating from the inside out

Length of the legs plays a part, but it sounds like you have your coils hooked up in series instead of parallel.

Dual parallel coils that are supposed to be .3 ohms total, means that each coil is .6 ohms individually, so if you hooked them up in series, the total would indeed be 1.2 ohms.

That'd be my guess as well, you have a working 12 wrap coil with space between and possibly long legs as well. Only way I can see getting that resistance with the build you described. You sure it's reading 1.2 and not .12?

A 6 wrap dual of 26 around 1/8th should be nowhere near 1.2 ohms. More like .6 so something's definitely wrong. As stated above, pictures are necessary. Series coils would explain it though.

how does one go about accidentally wrapping in series? Wouldn't you have to twist two legs together (one from each coil) and float that junction in mid air?

You're either running 32 gauge wire or mistakenly wrapped a series build.

I'll also be the guy to say "if this is a surprise to you, you should not be attempting a 0.3 ohm build". Learn at higher resistance and push it lower once you know it all so well you have no questions.
