So is the hamburger guy at McDonalds a professional burger maker? Is the gas station attendant that puts gas in your car a professional filler upper? There's is much more to professional than a paycheck.

they still have professional gas filler uppers??? ;)
all the stations Ive been to are self service :) I was a professional gas filler upper back in the early 70's :)

My wife is originally from Oregon. There it's still a state law that all gas stations are Full Service...professional filler uppers everywhere!!!

I was going to ask a question but think I will wait. The answer is just semantics based on what I've read in this thread. I am somewhat proficient with building single coils and I am finally branching out into "dual" coils. I use an older analog ohm meter. I suspect a lot of people that post here have never seen one. Y'all have fun. Peace....

Lol . . . These old eyes can't read an analog ohm meter any more.

Yes a few pages ago someone said its my first build and i am "unexperienced"

Yes mikey it's because you are asking questions that need to be answered with "you _NEED_ to get a real ohm reader". If you are asking those types of questions, then you are inexperienced.

The people in this thread, including me, don't want to see you (or anyone) get hurt by using unsafe building practices. Simply saying "I've built a coil with x gauge coil and wrapped it x times, but things are burning on my mech, is this ok?" doesn't sound all that experienced. Nobody is trying to scare you away or say you are stupid, but based on the information you've provided, there are some foolish things happening. Telling us your coil is reading 0.0 on the only ohm reader you have is enough to just simply say "screw it", toss it out and start over.

I'm simply suggesting you scrap the idea of this coil making it onto a mod without knowing what your actual resistance is on the coil. The ohm reader you have is reading it as a dead short, so start over and build a coil with a higher resistance. Something that will actually read on your ohm reader would be a great start

26ga on a 1/16 drill bit for .8 ohm dual will need 20 wraps for each coil

if you use a 3mm shaft you will only need 12 wraps
Yes, 26ga is too thick for .8 dual coils on a 1/16 drill bit. 30ga is better, or increase the diameter and go with 28ga. An ohm reader is still a must.
