Wondering if how much a person smokes determines their required nic strength for vaping.

I was a 1-2pack a day "lights" smoker. I started out with 18mg Cowboy. That flavor/strength hit me way too hard. I went down to 11mg random flavors and my cravings went up. I think it was the cowboy flavor that hit me too hard as a newbie. I am now at 24mg and am down to 2 to 5 cigs a day. I am not like others here that were fortunate enough to quit the cigs right away. But over time I am down to not even thinking about picking one up. It is like I quit without even trying. I have never denied myself one if I wanted one. I am even now considering 36mg for the dreaded morning coffee time which is my weakness.

So to get back to the reason for posting this, I want to know how much you smoked and if that directly relates to your nic mg strength. I see some people thinking that since they smoked "lights" that they think lower nic is more appropriate, or vise versa for "reds".

Just curious to see your responses.
I was 1-2 packs and am currently on 24mg

I smoked 1 1/2 packs Winston full strength Red pack the last 7 yrs.

Salem Light 100's - 1 pack or less 23 yrs straight before that. You can see my habit and addiction went deeper the last few years.

I quit cold turkey for 1 month before vaping. Then, started vapiing at 18mg for 1 month and now down to 13 mg which I'm fine with. At 18mg, I still craved analogs but stuck it out and just vaped more. Now I've cut down on my vaping and the strength of nic juice.

I'm hoping to get down to zero nic in 6 months or less.

I think doots hit it on the head. I started out wayyy back on marlboro red shorts but switched to merit ultra light shorts back in the 80's. I was at least a pack a day of those for the last 30 years. My 'sweet spot' is 18mg, tried higher and lower but 18 is what i like. I am trying some 11mg cartos at night to see if it helps me sleep, but i like my 18's and the 11mgs don't seem to make a diff.

Newport lights for the last 12 years. I have smoked for around 20 years with a few quits over the years. Around 10 packs a week. 18 mg Cowboy Menthols have been my most prevalent over the past 12 days and I have not had to have an analog since I got my order. I have had 5-10 cravings but was able to abstain with the help of the V4L VKs. I hope to try to cut back over time and eventually get to 0 mg. We'll see.

This is a question I was wondering about also...I'm totally new to e-cigs and I can't wait to make my first order. However - I want to get the right product for me so that I won't be scared off. ;)

I smoke American Spirit Ultra Lights, but I love the taste of Blues...I just can't smoke Blues all the time. I noticed that V4L has "Spirit of America" cartomizers. Is this the equivalent of American Spirits?

I don't want to do the liquid yet...I want to try the pre-filled first. What's a good selection to try and find the right strength for me?

(Sorry to reply here...for some reason I can't start a thread in this subforum.)

Thanks in advance...I'm getting the Vapor King starter kit and plan to add some cartomizers to try. Any suggestions for an American Spirit experience (I really don't like smoking anything else...they taste like cardboard to me) is appreciated.

SO excited...and I'm so glad I found this font of knowledge.

I smoked American Spirits too, but the organic red pack for me. I haven't tried the spirit of america cartos because they've got really horrible reviews.

Ahh...thanks for that. I might try them later, but I want a good taste to start the process. What flavor/strength did you start with? Or rather, which flavor/strength did you finally feel was enjoyable?

Oh...I do plan to get the auto battery. I love the whole process of smoking, and I want to get as close to the "real" thing as possible. Buttons just seem weird to me. lol

daphne... i wrote a long post about this here... it's very difficult to try and figure out a first perfect strength... the thing with flavor is that nothing's going to taste like it's 'on fire'. but strange as it sounds, you might perhaps like the cuban cigar? i would suggest getting the tobacco sampler, in a medium strength (11-18) and another sampler, unrelated--fruit or candy or cocktail--in a slightly different strength to start. playing around with flavors and nic levels is part of the process of figuring out your perfect vape... and with the samplers, it's really fun. :D
