Ok. I just got a Darwin from the classies. Had to sell one of my beloved ProVaris to get the money. I feel like I just bought a Mac and a Windows PC - can't wait to see if I like the Darwin better than the ProVari - am hoping that I love them both. I'm hoping that Darwin's service is as solid as ProVari. I love the ProVari but had the need to branch out and try something different. Couldn't see the logic in keeping two of the same Pros when I've not tried anything else vv yet.

Anyway, I look forward to doing the whole "Pepsi/Coke" thing and will weigh in.

Huffelpuff it's a good mod, if you have any questions, contact Evolv, top notch customer service

Glad to hear. I was one of the people looking for more information when Greg tried to sell his broken PV. Could be wrong but he seems to be the most vocal opponent of the Darwin... When I don't care for a PV I sell it and move on. It's happened to me a few x's for one reason or the other and tis part of the vaping game.

My Darwin should ship tomorrow and hoping to receive it by the end of the week. Re: my Satin ProVari I still feel like I sold one of my children. Hopefully Mr. Darwin will cheer me up.

Thanks for the support y'all and so relieved that you've had good service from Darwin. That makes all the difference to me.

Huff...have had a Darwin since April and am really enjoying it...and have had more than exceptional customer service....seems to me that if someone had a Darwin that needed service, and they still have the un-serviced unit, it is just that they have not sent it in...

As far as the pepsi/coke discussion....Darwin - Pepsi......ProVari - Coke.....(or is it the other way)....Darwin - Variable power (wattage)...ProVari - Variable Voltage .. Both top-of-the-line vapor makers....

Hi Huffelpuff, you will love it, but there are a few things that are different than anything else. This whole regulated power thing? Your first hit will be like your last hit, no juggling things to maintain the vape. This is top-notch.

Don't worry about using LR atty/cartos on it, it will work fine, but LR just drains your battery faster. 3 ohm and above actually give you the widest range of choices.

You can vape it while it's charging, it's best to not run it down to zero. It's not a true passthru, in that you could vape on it with it's batteries on zero. If they ever do get run down, let it get a 15 minutes head start before you vape. You are always vaping off the batteries, it's just trickle charging while you use it. You can find 1 or 2 amp external chargers that will charge it up faster if desired.

The battery life meter is not proportional, it's like the gas gauge in many cars. The first half lasts a long time, the second half goes fast. Just plug it in every night to be safe.

If you want to get fancy, with some complex juices you can ramp the wattage up/down in mid-hit. You can have the taste change while you are hitting on it. I enjoy being able to change the taste of some juices based on temp (like any VV device), but I don't bother to change it in mid-hit.

Keep us posted and on another note........water seeks it's own level, only a matter of time

Oh, sorry I did not mention, but the issues that the OP listed are "easily fixed and completely covered under The Warranty"....I hope you do send it in....Drew and/or Brandon have exceptional customer service.....on a side note, when I got my Darwin from Drew I also purchased a 510/510 adapter which was kinda flakey....Drew replaced it without hassle, and it still works great after 7 months.....

the plastic piece to turn the screen on, where is this? the part that turns the device on and off is a magnet, in fact this is a quote from brandon himself sent to my email, im sure he wont mind me posting it to clear up confusion about a plastic piece being in the arm " The elbow has a magnet in it which activates a sensor to turn the Darwin on and off"

And a partial post of Drew's (don't think he would mind) also states:

1. There are no Plastic switches
2. There is no way the arm could ever spin 360 degrees

I keep seeing people say you can't put a LR carto on a provari. That is complete utter bs!! I have a 1.5ohm dual coil on mine right now at 4 volts. Hits great without any errors. If I want anymore out of it I would go with a higher ohm carto. Sure the darwin will drive a lr harder than the provari but there is no reason to run lr with a vv device. The only reason lr was made was to get low voltage better performance. Only reason I am using a lr now is old stuff I bought before I had a vv. Another thing I hear is the darwin hits the same from full charge to dead like the provari doesnt. My provari does this also it hits exactly the same throughout battery charge. The only thing that the wattage control on the darwin does different than a provari is it holds the wattage the same no matter what ohm coil is put on it. For me that is useless since I vape at different wattage depending on what type device sits on top and what juice. A dual coil carto I have to almost double the wattage to get the same performance I get out of a top coil. Also I tend to run my tobacco juices higher than my fruity/sweet flavors. In the end both are great devices just get to the same point in different way's. I will say I have seen many more issues posted about the darwin than the provari. Sure I hear evolv has great service but I would rather not have to use it. Once I see the quirks worked out I will probably get one just because I can afford it since quitting analogs. One can't have enough toy's

I have made an attempt to read and understand your posts, but it seems you are anti-comma. It is beyond difficult for me to gleen exactly what you are saying when it is put into 20,000 word sentences. Alas, I will keep trying.

Provari got my vote too I owned both the darwin will malfunction or stop charging and youll have to send it in for warrenty and its craftmanship is shotty plus its like 100 dollars more expensive the provari is much sleeker and seems much better in quality and design. Vapor production is great for either unit but after having 4 or 5 darwins sent in for repair every 3 month I wouldnt recommend the darwin to anyone 250 bucks is a ripoff. I think with two batteries a provari is like 180 but more for extender but atleast u can upgrade later on if u decide to provari offers like a 3000mah battery now should last almost 3 days

Its hard to find true reviews on the darwin on the nhaler forum drew will edit posts he finds negative so only good things will be seen about the quality of the darwin not necessarily true for someone lookingfor a new pv I wish id gone the provari route from the start. Buzz pro is great too for a lower price of either

You bought 4 or 5 Darwins? Ok, I'll bite: Four or Five?

Your opinion of Drew sounds quite askew to me. I have never seen a deleted post on the Darwin threads. Perhaps tho, it's timely.

no, the provari is power regularated also, the darwin will kick up the voltage depending on how many ohms the atomizer is worth, the provari will limit the amount giving u an error message if the atomizer is a lower resistance so you need to turn down the voltage alittle so it works properly so that you dont blow the atomizer, the whole adjustable wattage thing that the darwin advertises is bs, you have to understand that all these vv units will adjust with voltage/amps/wattage that will go hand and hand with any electricial power....the buzz pro will do the same regulating the only difference is that the darwin/provari can give readings on what th setting is at, but that doesnt matter anyway its all about finding the sweet spot and you might as well be looking for the sweet spot with your eyes closed anyway theres not much learning curve here, usually id be cranking the voltage up al the way anyway so i could just hand myself a 6 volt mod and call it a day..basicly im saying is im going to have the same output and vaping experience from my vv box mod that i bought for 30 bucks than i would have from a darwin, the atomizer heats up and vapor is produced theres nothing special about th darwin and frankly i think a total peice of crap, receiving the provari out of the box i was much more impressed with it seeing it in person than i was with the darwin, to me the provari in pictures looks kinda large and chunky, its actually a solid unit, probably exactly the size of a roll of quarters, doesnt feel hollow or cheap at all, im very happy with it and still am, like i said before the darwin is has shotty craftsmanship written all over it and a higher price to boot, dont listen to these darwin fans theyre just trying to overcompensate cuz they still think their unit is better, ive been on both sides of the fence already and around the block a few times, for the price of a darwin you can probaly afford a gg mod with a ufs and that is a real mod

The ProVari is variable voltage. Please explain the 'bs' of the Darwin's advertised adjustable wattage 'thing'. Did you actually take apart one of the 4 or 5 you owned and not find the actual adjustable wattage? My oh my.

Perhaps you might be better off vaping your 30 buck box. Vape it often, and happily.

And please, certainly do NOT listen to any Darwin fans, because they all live for overcompensation.

I avoided the Darwin because of moving parts. Just about anything that has moving parts will wear out and get loose. Provari is the best choice for a VV device.

It is. And it is VV.

ya i had issues with that, id have to turn the knob a few times to get it to activate, eventually it wouldnt turn on at all, had to send it in for warrenty, and one time it was spinning 360 degrees id have t remeber what directin it was turned in so that the wires inside wouldnt twist....oh Yeah, They soldered wires onto that knob, you never solder wires to moving parts, its hack, i was hoping that when that knob turns it somehow made a solid contact to the switch, no, theres wires solders to it, and turning the knob pushes a tiny peice of a plastic, that pushes a spring that pushing into another peice of plastic into a button that turns the unit on, what is that? yes one of my units this configuration of lego-like peices came apart and the unit wouldnt turn on....

I'm wondering if you were satisfied with your Darwin repairs.

provari it depends on if u put a higher resistance atomizer on it so u can dial it up to 6 volts....
someone wrote each has its own pluses and minuses....id rather have an average unit that works consistantly day in and day out than a one that might outperform but may eventually malfunction and stop working ...

i rely on my pv for peice of mind, i have to have backup units because i know ill either go nuts or smoke cigarettes if i was ever without my pv....owning a darwin is a gamble mine stopped working and i had to send it in for warrenty 4 or 5 times...enough said

So, just to be clear, did you own 4 or 5 Darwins, or did you own one that you sent in for repairs 4 or 5 times?

If I compared the two id say the darwin out preforms the provari but even a longer timeline using them both people will eventually realize the darwin isnt built to last its shotty craftsmanship what good is delivering vapor if the unit wont turn on and what good is a two year warrenty if you know your going to have to send it back once the watrenty is up becausr it continues to break down

So you are NOT bashing the Darwin, right?

Ya and drew edits anyones posts that say anything negative about the darwin so that anyone doing research on a new mod will only see good things about it and not necessarily the reality of it being a shotty unit, ontop of that just posting that i had issues with it on the darwin thread caused an uproar of disbelief that the darwin is a superior unit and theres no way it could have broken on someone 5 times, but its true, and it wasnt user error or misuse. just writing that i had issues with it on the darwin forum caused people to hit the warn button to the moderators, i find that kind of unjustified

Really? Really you find that unjustified? Sigh.

Ya I am trashing the darwin becausr its garbage and id like to warn people that for 250 bucks its a ripoff and suggest other more reliable mods that dont malfunction or degrade truth of the matter is wether u like it or not is I had five of these darwins die on me in 6 months I strongly recommend people not to waste their money on a darwin it is expensive and faulty

I can only wonder what reaction it might have if someone said that YOU are the one people need to be warned about. I can only ponder the reaction if anyone thought that you might not know truth from fiction.

...I just remember telling myself after getting it back thinking gee I wonder how long its going to be before I have send it in again...someone said how partial ppl r to their pv well im telling u this as a friend who was on the darwin side of the fence im not trolling im being honest about my experience with the darwin and to recommend more reliable less expensive pvs I tell people all the time on here to save their money and pick up a 5 volt box mod I like my provari ya maybe its a close call which is better but provari wins because its reliable I love my reo grand because its reliable. I used to think the darwin was vaping heaven then it stopped working u can only send something in for repairs just so many times before u realize its junk.

You sound sad that you no longer vape on a Darwin. Vaping heaven, eh?

Thats all besides the point doesnt change the fact that the unit is wack.yes when u turn the knob it pushes a tiny peice of plastic into a spring that pushes another peice of plastic into a button that turns the screen on I was hopingturning the knob did something like make a simple contact but its a contraption knobs got wires soldered to it which is hack and everyones usb ports are becoming loose and units wont charge anymore I see it gets put up on a pedistal cuz its variable wattage let me tell u a secret. All vv units will change wattage. the only thing the darwin does is give a reading on it. Its a built in meter. A buzz pro or I pro from notcigs do the same regulating but with no screen I like them more u dont need a reading to find your sweetspot a vapor should be able to find the right hit with their eyes closed the.darwin is an amateur mod.

From where did you get this information about a tiny piece of plastic that pushes into a spring, that pushes another piece of plastic into a button that turns on the screen? Everyone's USB ports are becoming loose and all the units won't charge anymore? REALLY? Really, XKing, come on.

i think a lot of people get nervious hearing that their favorite pv may have a short life span im sure a lot of people wish they'll have a working pv that'll last them till their old and grey, i remember receiving my first ego kit thinking this is all im ever gonna need, my first ego battery went haywire 2 days after i got it

Must have been that little plastic piece.

Like I been saying the darwin vapes great youll lovE it but eventually its gonna start breaking down and stop working

Much like most of us.

XKing, it appears to many of us that you have been very unhappy with your choice in PVs and your purchase (?) of the Darwin. It is also apparent that you chose to belittle it to anyone and everyone that would listen rather than deal with the issues at hand. I suppose that you think this is helpful advice for anyone thinking about getting one. It is not. It 'feels' rather childish to me and comes across as spouting negativity due to your own unhappiness. I am sure that many of the Darwin owners would be more than happy to have helped you out with any issues you had with the device.

But, all that said, it would prolly not be quite as entrancing, exciting and dramatic. Boring, happy vapes.

Thank you.

Kat...if i might add just one fact:
When you check the Darwin thread you will see that there are almost 10,000 posts and only 3 posts have been deleted, and all 3 were recently posted by you know who. The highlighted assertion by Xking is verifiably false. Just had to set the record straight.

The provari is a VV device, you set the voltage and depending on the atomizer resistance you get a specific wattage (assuming ohms law hasn't been broken recently)

The darwin is a VP device, you set the wattage and based on the atomizer resistance it automatically adjusts the voltage to get that wattage.

Am I understanding this correctly?
