Confused as to what to buy

A few years ago my son bought me the "Premium" E cig while I was in the hospital for a month. Hadn't used it since, then when I needed one, I grabbed a couple Blu disposables and loved the flavor so I bought a starter kit without researching any thing. I'm on SS so I can't afford either ( I roll my own and it's about 10.00 a carton) So my questions are:
1. Does anyone know of blanks that will fit either the blu, or the premium? (even though the blu has a short battery life it doesn't matter since I'm basically housebound.)
2. Would it be worth the expense to chuck it all and start over with a set up that uses blanks. I am trying to quit regular cigarettes this time, and I have seen that you can do it somewhat cheaper with e-juice than the prefilled. But the more things I read the more confused I get :/ . So if anyone can recommend a complete kit (battery, charger, blanks ect. Also if someone can recommend an e-juice that tastes similar to the blu classic tobacco that strong (like 24mg) That would be awesome. Thank in advance!

If it's too hard to explain it, can you direct me to a site that will? Something simple please, I don't want to take a college course

I think you should upgrade to an eGo style. Batteries will last much longer, and there are a gazillion cartridges, atomizers, cartomizers, and tanks for them. Joyetech, aka Joye, is the genuine one. Lots of clones that apparently work very well, and may be cheaper. At the bottom of the main page is a list of vendors. Look through them and their sites, to see what the best deal is for you.

I wont' say anything about the Blu because I don't know anything about them.

It comes with everything you need to start (2 of everything actually). It's 39.95 at this retailer, you might be able to find it cheaper somewhere else, I just picked this site because it's the only America site I've ever ordered something from.

You can get kits for cheaper that only come with 1 battery/tank but that kind of leaves you with nothing when that battery is charging, or if something breaks.

You can try Johnsen Creek for juice. They supply blu but blu may be rebranding their juice with a different name. If I not mistaken you can refill blu cartos.

When I made the decision to switch to vaping, like you, a limited budget limited my options. I was left with little choice but to jump in feet first.

My cigarette budget was 75 bucks for two weeks. I took that 75 bucks and bought a variable voltage eGo starter kit. Had the battery, charger, an Evod clearomizer, a case, and a 15ml bottle of juice.

I did it!

The juice didn't make quite two weeks, but another bottle wasn't hard to come up with. After that, my smoking costs were halved, the next two weeks only cost me about 25 bucks.

Since then I've used that smoking budget money to cover the startup costs to making my own juice, rebuilding my own coils, and generally situating myself into vaping. Right now, vaping costs me nothing. Costs paid. For what I would have spent on cigarettes for a couple of months, I can now vape for a couple of years and never spend another dime except to replace my eGo if/when it finally gives up.

Personally, I wouldn't waste time with the cig-a-likes. I've got a junk drawer full of them from the last several years trying them out as a smoking replacement. They're an anemic simulation of smoking, and offer very little in cost savings.

Go pro, and never look back.

New Vapor Starter Kits

Vaping is such a personal experience, so obviously everyone's perfect kit will be different and we will need more info about you and your needs. This post is more aimed to those that are ready to move away from cig-a-likes and into the vaping world.

I have gone through the past year of lurking in this forum and what I have learned and tried to piece together to my best a good starter kit for cheap.

It is all overwhelming at first but it starts getting easier and it starts making more sense.

Some things to keep in mind:
Try to stick to pv's (personal vapors) that have both the 510 and ego connections this way you have all kinds of options when it comes to juice delivery systems.


Variable Voltage (vv) = everyone's taste is different so you can set your voltage up or down to help suit your needs as well as different juices and different juice delivery systems (cartomizers, tanks, ect) taste different at different voltages. (how many times can I say different)

Variable Wattage (vw) I haven't tried yet but assuming it is the same principle as stated above for vv.

Pass-through battery to be able to vape while charging.


the higher the mAh the longer the battery life


do you prefer a warm vape (top coil) or a cool vape (bottom coil)? top coil vs bottom coil tanks, to each their own...but go with glass or metal so that there's no worries about tank cracking juices.

so that aside my best advice that was given to me and is currently my only pv is to take the flying leap save yourself wasted money from buying the cigarette-look-alikes and go for a better battery...

get you a variable voltage spinner.

I agree that you should upgrade as well, but if the funding is short, save a bit to get a good kit like an ego or evod. In the mean time you can by any cartomizer with 510 threading usually around $1 a piece and some juice. This will be cheaper but in the long run, but probably a pain since you will have to charge constantly.

I'd recommend Fasttech if not for the shipping issues they've had with batteries lately. I put in an order in mid-October that had two 1100mah eGo batteries, still haven't gotten it. It's been returned and refunded twice, currently on the third attempt.

Customs has a real thing about anything with batteries in it or liquids. Everything else goes through fine.

I am also pretty sure you can by both blu and premium cartridges separately. i think they both use an 808 carto but there are several variants with that thread and I don't want to recommend something without being sure.

You can refill cartridges for as long as they work and taste good. It will be a different amount with different juices. There is no set number. It is something you will have to find out for yourself. If money is tight I think the best thing you can do for now is use what you have and try to find a flavor or two that you like. The hardest thing about vaping is just that, finding a flavor you can vape.

Once you have some juice and are more familiar with vaping then as the another poster suggested go to fastech and order something.

Krint, how can i find out out what I have now to make sure they are 510? The premiums have the treading on the battery, and the blu's have the threading on the carto's. I'm assuming the carto would work with the blu?

Also the ego twist and vision spinners have a dial on the bottom that when turned adjusts the power level so you can customize your vaper, warmth, flavor and throat hit. The evod battery doesn't have this. You can keep your old stuff for backup. As far as the topper goes you can still use the evods if you want. You could also look into making your own liquid. Or if someone is extremely bored could you go to the fastech site and choose a starter kit for me? LOL I know I'm asking a lot, but I don't know what all these words mean, sorry I'm such a dunce. I don't mind waiting on shipping from china since I have a bunch of cartos for the premium, and just to be sure, did I see a USA charger in the fasttech kits? I will let someone else pick out the starter kit because some of fast tech's stuff in fake and I don't know which ones are the real thing. The part you will need to replace is the head in the evod. I am gonna once again recommend spending a bit more on the vision spinner or ego twist batteries. I would also order at least the batteries from a US supplier. EDIT: I just checked fast tech and they do have the ego twits batteries. The problem with buying batteries from Fast Tech is that they may not make it to you because of them being batteries. Wherever you order them from you will have to choose a Mah rating. mah stands for milliamp hour. 100 mah is supposed to equal 1 hour of vape time. So 650 mah will last aprox six hours and 1100 mah will last aprox 11 hours. The higher the mah rating the larger the battery will be. If you don't mind a larger battery then go with the higher mah rating. If you want to keep it smaller go with the lower one. All of these e cig batteries are supposed to recharge 250 to 300 times so less charging from higher mah batteries means over all they will last longer.

Thanks Dana. I think I would like one of the ones you mentioned. Yes I have cartos left, most unused, so I can save a while to get the right set up. Can you tell me, after the original purchase, which parts will need to be replaced (and kept on hand) to keep it working?
