Yes I agree with mlinky. I HATED menthol but the Vets here at ECF told me most new vapers like menthol. They were absolutely right and I now add a little menthol to all my fave tobacco juices. You can buy menthol drops separately and add them to the juices. Seems to give a nice mellow aftertaste and a slight "kick"
Good Luck and I'll be following this thread...

HA! Now here is the other great part of this vapin' thing--especially when on tight budget.
(Subtitle: "The substantial financial upside for anyone on the verge of considering vaping")

After 5 days, I can roughly calculate what it costs me in e-juice vs. what it cost me in analogs.
A most pleasant mind-blower:

--- At Southern California/L.A. area analog prices for Pyramids (cheaper, just as good alternative to Pall Mall that I switched to earlier this year) and since I smoked 1 1/2 packs a day: $5.78 per day

--- I've used about 1/4 of my 45ml Menthol Lightl from DiscountVapors that cost $11.98 in 5 days. At that rate, it's costing me only $0.60 per day.

That's just just a hair over 10% cost. And that's factoring in that I'm vaping more than I was analoging - which is rather common.

Holy e-Smokes! This alone is indeed a Christmas present to oneself that keeps on giving all year round )

=== Q: === Am I nuts or have others come to similar fiduciary conclusions, observations, calculations? **

** Sure, some really get into mods which can cost money. Though I'm a DIY guy, I seriously doubt that I'll get into it in any way-out way; the only reason I'd do any would be to save even more money.

So my sense is that my per-day cost will pretty much stay the same. I'd rather use the savings for paying my dentist and Ziggy's veterinarian, the occasional donation to a charity and other life stuff )

You will also have to factor in replacement costs of cartos or attys, depending on which you use....

True and psychologically factored in too. It's kind of like general life maintenance stuff:
Toilet paper runs out, new cat litter needed, hard drives need replacing, etc.)

Yes! It is soooo much cheaper...well until you want to try all the juices everyone raves about! Then you go to the site mentioned, put it in your cart and realize that there is a flat rate shipping. Well shoot, if it is going to cost me 4 or 5 bucks to just ship one, I may as well try a few others. THAT gets expensive! The sad part is, out of all the juices I have tried, my favorite is still the first one I ordered ever :) But I keep trying new ones, its fun! If you have more self control than myself, then you are very correct in it being a ton cheaper.

You are an impressive individual IMHO.

I'm so glad this has been such a positive experience for you. Yes I bought in bulk and ended up spending $500.00 but I have enough supplies to last the next 1 1/2 years. No I'm not wealthy and in fact quite the opposite and I found once I knew what I needed I ordered in bulk as prices for pv stuff up here is quite expensive. Ordering in bulk also helped defray the shipping costs. Another reason I ordered in bulk was my fear of the authorities here clamping down. My costs per week are approx $2.00 for juice and cartos and DIYing my own juices has helped immensely.

Happy Vaping my friend, Vapoor.

Congratulations! Please give us updates about your progress and experiences.

Personally, I was a chain smoker throughout my twenties and was stunned when I got my sense of smell and taste back. I was mentored by cardiologists in high school (I recognize the irony) and they said every bodily system can recover from smoking if given enough time, so your decision is worthy of applause and a hope for a happy, breathing, tasting, smelling era of your life. :)

Read the whole thread and am not surprised at how supportive all of you have been. ECF is an amazing place. Kudos to you Sonic on your new adventure into the vaping world. I will have to say I have had excellent service from every vendor I have tried: Apollo, CCV (although a little slow at times), Liberty Flights, FoxyboxMods, Good Prophets, Madvapes, KickBassVapor, LiteCigUSA, and EVCigarettes. Other than Apollo I have run across all of these other vendors through ECF and feel fortunate to have this forum as news gets around fast if anyone feels ripped off. Vaping has been an astonishingly great experience for me and I wish the same for you Sonic, and all other new vapers who cross this thread. Happy New Year to a fabulous group of people!

Congrats Soniclight!! Keep up the good work. If you DIY you will save even more :) I mostly do DIY with the occasional splurge on some pre made juices like Halo's, Ms T's and I just ordered some samplers from Copper Creek to try. But really my juice expense is minimal when doing DIY. Enjoy! bnrk

Thanks to all for further messages, encouragements. I'm still hovering around 5 analogs a day, but again, 30 to 5 since Dec. 23, still not bad. But got to get off this menthol juice which is the only one I have for now for it's numbing my taste and lungs.

Keyzgirl,

Glad you're doing better and better. Salemgold is already helping me out with some juice, so no worries. And as you'll see in my repy to the below...

Your posting got me thinking for...

Due to prices, shipping times and the legal stuff down the pike that could really send a tsunami into the vaping world giving the power and the money to the very few at the expense of all of us, newbie or not, I'm seriously going to lean into DIY soon. I've been DIY most of my life, this three-parts chemistry should be easy due to online calculators, etc.

The only thing I really have to watch out for it seems is to make sure I don't get too much nicotine liquid on my skin. Even pre-packaged juice can sting a bit.

No point dying of a nicotine overdose while valiantly becoming a non-smoker, eh? lol

And so while I'm at it, a question for those who do DIY:

Even the two-fer deal aside, this seems like a good price for PG and/or VG, but is it quality or FDA approved = healthy for vapers? 1 Gallon Veg Glycerin + 1 Gallon Propylene Glycol - Free Shipping

Later edit:

Under the product/s there are links to the safety/ingredients for these in .pdf form, and here they are below. The warnings for "inhalation" don't look too good, but then it's still better than tar, smoke and 400+ chemicals in analogs ) :

VG
PG

If not, any reliable vendors for these and for nicotine liquid and flavors*? (*I'm interested in the tangy fruity stuff. I'm not a sushi or cheesecake flavor kinda guy ;o)

The PG+VG deal from Essential Depot is absolutely fine for DIY, and if you CAN get it I would recommend it as it's a killer deal.

I would also recommend OneStopDIYShop as a starting point. Kimer offers starter kits that will include gloves to reduce your concern about skin contact with the nic.

I recommend starter kits like that to get started with so that you don't have to end up going all over the place to multiple stores/sites. Sure, someone might offer FA flavorings at a somewhat lower price, but when you start going to multiple places you start accumulating shipping charges...kinda' works against shopping for bargains.

DIYFlavorShack.com also puts together some nice starter kits.

Each of the starter kits would include 4 or more flavorings of your choice. What I would suggest is to look through recipes available here on ECF, pick a few that you would like to try, and make your flavoring choices based on those recipes as your springboard. You can always order more and different flavorings later.

Sonic -- Watch, watch, watch for nic juice sales! I haven't mixed any up yet but I got a fantastic deal Good Prophets ran earlier in the month and ordered several 240 ml bottles of 36mg juice that I can cut 50/50 with plain pg. Price for the nic juice: 8.99 each. That will give me 480 ml at 50/50 for about 10.00, the price of 30 ml of juice from the cheaper suppliers. Helluva sale, so watch for those and then stock up for awhile. I bought TPA (The Perfumer's Apprentice) flavorings at the same time and they were expensive compared to that nic joose lol. Start looking at recipes on the recipe calculator ( E-Liquid Recipe Calculator ) and that will give you an idea of flavors you might order. Also go to the DIY thread and start looking -- some good sounding recipes out there but alas, I ordered what I thought I might need but find myself still wanting. You have me motivated and I have pulled my juice from the fridge to make a small batch. Read, read, read, and share, share, share once you start DIY. Funny, but it seems quite a few people are selfish with their recipes??? I guess it's the schoolteacher in me that causes me to like to share things I learn.

How did I just find this thread today? Who knows? Who cares? Doesn't matter.

What a great read! At the beginning I was practically shouting at my monitor - Someone tell him how great the GoGo is!

I was so glad to see that you got one!

Yes, ECF is an unbelievable group of people. So much love here. So much information. Often too much information, LOL.

But I was so glad to read this all the way through (OK after about 6 pages I stopped reading every post and just looked for your updates, LOL) and to see how well it's turned out. Made my day :)
