I understand that, but there is no for sure saying it may not become very hard to obtain is my point. If it becomes unavailable (or very hard to get) to the general public is the scenario in which I am speaking.

If possessing and manufacturing nicotine becomes a crime, then only criminals will have nicotine, and some former law-abiding citizens will become de facto criminals. Seems kinda binary to me.

A few comments for all the vapers that have not sent multiple comments to the FDA yet, (get on it!!)

Regarding ordering from overseas. Back a few years the FDA was having the US Customs Service seizing shipments of e-cigs. Took a law suite and a couple of appeals to put a stop to it. You want to add that uncertainty to the mix while waiting for your vape-mail?

Regarding taxes. When I started smoking cigarettes were about 25 cents a pack, now they are $7.50 to $8.00 or more per pack. Whatever taxes are put on e-liquid, it's only the opening salvo, they will go up. Name one tax on anything that has ever been actually reduced.

Regarding a black market. Nicotine is not as easy as many other substances to create for a market. The raw material, tobacco is easily available, but currently regulated and heavily taxed. Once you aquire the tobacco, it's an involved and dangerous process to extract the nicotine. Cigarettes entertain a black market because they are available already processed and manufactured, bought in a low tax jurisdiction and smuggled to a high tax area, rather simple.

Regarding current smokers, e-cigarettes will become an expensive, less effective, novelty that will have it's use as restricted as combustible cigarettes. Current vapers may be able to continue with some difficulty, new vapers will disappear.

A comment to the FDA can be anything, send them what you're thinking and feeling. If you add in a few references to some solid scientific studies, all the better. Don't wait, you only have until Aug-8 to help make a difference.

my biggest fear is the stranglehold they could put on nicotine ... they could ban online sales and make nicotine very hard to obtain.

They could literally hand the distribution of eLiquid over to heavily taxed BT ... many of the juice venders will not be able to financially comply to outrageous fees, so unfortunately, it will be game over for them ... I can honestly see some established juice venders actually being bought by BT (even a 5P wouldn't shock me).

THIS is the thing to fear, I think. It ain't the hardware, it's the software..........
The control / regulation / taxation of the 'fuel' is what it's all about.

IMHO- big tobacco will be the only one who will end up selling cigalikes- carto will be the only thing available- so, we take the cartos and squeeze out the juice they use! Big tobacco wants IN on this vaping thing.
I think I need to start cutting back on the nic in my juice.
I can see myself vaping just PG/VG AND chewing the nic GUM at the same time!
Can we learn to extract nic from the patches/gum/atomizers????

The REAL question is will we go BACK to smoking cigs IF it gets too expensive to vape?

It's what the FDA is pushing for, you must quit or die.

Well so far less than 1% of ecf members have filled this form out.

    Regulations.gov

So I guess most of you just don't care.

    Simply copy/past this to the top of your comments;

    From: [your name]
To: FDA Center for Tobacco Products
RE: FDA, Docket No. FDA-2014-N-0189, Regulatory Information Number (RIN) 0910- AG38

and then tell the FDA what the regulations will do to you.

And now an opinion from a realist (G):
Governments, corporations, and various "public service" organizations rely on tobacco users and the taxes/funds that they pay/spend. In this state, per pack of cigarettes, there is the $1.00 Fed tax, the $2.00 state tax, and six percent sales tax on the excise/sin tax. The government is not going to give that up! Social Security going broke? A tobacco user pays taxes all of his/her life, then dies early. At least according to all of these 'studies'. More people quit, less tax revenue, people live longer instead of dying at an earlier age of something quick and cheap like lung cancer. Now they need heart transplants, dialysis, kidney transplants, nursing home care. Tobacco use sounds like a win/win situation for the government when shown in that light doesn't it?
Anti-cancer anti-smoking organizations. Tax free, survive on donations. "Fight against those smokers who are killing YOU with second-hand smoke! Give your tax deductible donation to us!" These orgs spend most of their money on salaries, PSA's (to educate and get more donations), and a little bit for 'cancer research'. So if no tobacco users, these orgs will have to find a new cause to squeeze for donations..
Big Tobacco and Big Pharm are at least being honest in pursuit of profit and to kill competition, scum though they may be!
Its like complaining about the oil companies making their 'greedy' profits. They'll make five cents a gallon in profit. How much does you state/federal get per gallon? My state gets 18 cents/gallon for road tax, plus six percent on the entire purchase, and still has the nerve to say it needs an additional 1.6 Billion dollars to fix the roads!!

Or KISS...take some of the well written posts you have made or read on ECF and cut and paste them into the Regulations.gov form. You can do it a dozen times a day. See a great post, forward it on to the FDA.

Mine is submitted and will send several more. Will it do any good? Don't know but my voice will be one crying from the wilderness against their oppressive boot on my throat.
At least you got to try. Took me fifteen minutes to write what I wanted. I'm just a poor person compared to some of the organizations/people fighting against vaping, but I VOTE and take notes on those political employees who support me or go against my wishes!
