Hello everyone! This is my first post and I am so happy to have found this forum, through City Data. My husband started using Chantix 7 wks. ago and it is very successful for him. I got the Nic. Patches and was prepared to start using them on my quit date, which I set for 2 wks. from today April 4th. Since I am a slight built I think the patches may be too strong for me. I have smoked 1 pk. a day forever, and it is time to stop. I am just so confused on what the right e-cigarette would be for me.

You are really so informative and I think I will be able to quit with the right information. Thank you for your help. kelsie

Personally, I hate cartridges. This is my favorite first pv:
Go to Liberty Flights
Get a Riva 510 lite bundle Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510
Throw in a couple of packs of Boge 2ohm 510 cartomizers Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers

Click on the 20% off icon at the top of the page and the total cost will be about $45 without juice. Since you smoke a pack a day, add a couple of 24mg juice in your choice of flavors. $2.99 shipping and done. Don't know if it matters, but they take PayPal.

This is the set up I started with and I love it. You will need to order juice to go with this. I would suggest at least5 5ml bottles of different things to try out. You can get the juice from Liberty flights or another vendor. Much cheaper to fill your own cartomizets than buying pre filled ones. And Liberty flights does take paypal :)

I was just up that way a couple days ago! Darn. I'll definitely have to stop by someday when I have a day off work.

Not to discourage you from using Totally Wicked, but their Tornado kit is basically the same thing as the Riva kit from Liberty Flights, but it costs $60 instead of $30.

Question with the Riva 5-10 it says that the cartridges are about 3-5 cigarettes. The kit comes with 10. So Only about 30-50 cigarettes... Are they refillable? Or do I need to buy a bunch of cartridges?

So I need to get the liquid and the cartomizers... then the starter kit? Gosh I feel kind of clueless with this haha.. Basically I want enough stuff to last similarly enough to several cartons..

This is what I have in my cart so far.

E Liquid E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Double Mint - Extra High - 24MG $2.39 1 $2.39
E Liquid E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Menthol - Extra High - 24MG $2.39 1 $2.39
E Liquid E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Spearmint - Medium - 14MG $2.39 1 $2.39
E Liquid E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Strawberry - Extra High - 24MG $2.39 1 $2.39
E Liquid E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Water Melon - Extra High - 24MG $2.39 1 $2.39
Electronic C Boge Cartomizers Boge 510 Cartomizer 2.0 Ohm (Black) - 5 Pack $7.99 1 $7.99
Electronic C Riva 510 Black Riva 510 - SE Edition $34.39 1 $34.39

Should I get more of stuff?

Look good on hardware I suggest switching 1 24mg to a 18mg and another to a 12mg if you can. I was a pack a day Marlboro red smoker for almost 20 years. and 24mg spun my head around.
Your cartos @ 2.0 is fine as long as you remember not to chanvape them, hit them one or twice and leave it for a bit let the cartos cool. If you get too vape heavy you will kill the batts.
A spare 900mAh 510 batt holds a longer charge if you know you'll be unable to recharge for the whole day. like say you wanted to hang with friends after work till late at night.

I didn't mean that comment 'bout the parents as a condemnation or anything, it's just what I've found in my experience so far. Pretty near 100% of us smoked (many still do smoke, just hopefully less now) cigs too. Smoking is, in the whole scheme of things, a fairly mild way to rebel. You're showing maturity in looking for a better alternative to analogs- they usually start as a way to rebel but can quickly turn into a pretty big burden on your life. Best of luck and keep us posted on how things turn out. This forum is one of the most helpful resources out there.

Honestly, if I was 19 again, I'd just quit all of it. Electronic cigs seem much safer, and I'm delighted to have the alternative, but who knows what the future holds. I will tell you that quitting gets more difficult with each passing year. And you still have time to quit before any of the negative health problems arise. My lungs now, after 25+ years of smoking, will never be anywhere close to as functional as they would have been. Sorry to sound like an old man on a soap box, but that's my advice to anyone your age. Quit all of it.

I'm ordering my first 2.0s reading the threads here ppl kill 510 bats getting too greedy at 2.0 it's a 2.0 low resistance thing. I can say ppl here suggest that once the catro get overly hot you give it a brake other cartos say 3.2 this dose not happen. 2.0 gives you a warmer vape. 3.2 a cooler, so dose not get as hot as fast. I plain to try 1 to 2 hits. You may find 4 or 5 hits at 2.0 for you is not as warm as 1 or 2 hits for me, then again. I hit the thing till my batt blinks and tells me it is shutting itself off do to heat. About a full 10 sec inhaling. As it stands now I hit my 3.2 for well over a min or 2mins even (10 sec breaths) before it gets too hot. You just have to watch how hot the cart gets. And trust me you don't need 5 min on one of these like you do to finish off a cig. The nic will hit you fine and satisfy a full cig need at 3 or 4 puffs. At least for me it dose..... We all very, the first month you'll find what work for you.

So you can only hit it once or twice? Then you have to wait a while(How long?) before you can hit it again?

Like two hits in a row, then maybe wait 5-10 seconds. In other words, don't hotbox the pv. The 2 batteries that come with that kit will hold a charge for 6-8 hours. Cartridges are different from cartomizers. Pre-filled cartridges generally taste like crap and have to be used to get juice to the atomizer...makes it a 3 piece set-up. You want the atomizers because when you want to "taste" juice, you can drip a few drops of liquid directly on the atomizer and taste it, but constant dripping is a PIA. Cartridges dry up quickly and really don't effectively get juice to the atomizer...frankly, I kept the ones I had for emergency use only. Now cartomizers are a combination of the atomizer and cartridge, makes it a 2 piece set-up. With Boge cartomizers all you do is pop off the soft cap of the cartomizer, add 15 drops of juice, wait, add 10 more, wait 1/2 hour, but overnight is better, pop the cap back on and vape for a long time without worrying about refilling.

A regular 510 battery can get killed by a 2ohm cartomizer, but the eGo/Riva works great with them.

BTW, I think your cart looks great. You will need more juice in about 10 days, but that will get you started. The juice vendors are quick, and that would be the best reason to go to Totally Wicked. Take your Riva there and try some different juices. I would also buy another pack of the Boge cartos, but I like having plenty of those around...one pack should last you 5 weeks.

thanK you :D I have been sweating over this for a month now at least 50 threads related and everyone has their opinion. Not everyone on the same page as to units and such make the knowledge a bit overwhelming. example Smok Tech 2.0 Not recommended for 5 volt use or for eGo, 510, 808 or other mosfet driven batteries. But a lot of ppl that tested this out say your fine as long as we don't hotbox :D

My pleasure. I wouldn't use any LR device with 5v, won't hurt the battery but likely that the atty/carto will burn out. If nothing else it would taste like crap. A 2.0 ohm is fine on the 650 mah+ batteries (eGo/Riva), but may burn out the smaller batteries. For the smaller batts, go with standard resistance. Since none of them are true 3.7v batteries, the 2 ohm on the eGo/Riva is the closest you can get to 3.7v vaping without a mod.

Just to add something to this. Yes, the Riva is cheaper, but for a brand new vapor, he can eliminate a lot of issues by going to a store. I used to work in one and i often had customers say that they'd never have made it without my instruction and support. The TW store is pretty amazing. They have a full vaping lounge, a "bar" to order juice and private consulting cubicles to get 1 on 1 instruction and the ability to try a few different things.

I'm not saying he can't get help on the forum here regardless of where he buys from, but I think a trip to the store would be a good option..even if it was just to better understand the product. Sometimes it's worth a few extra bucks to get the hands on help.

Hope it works out for you! Happy Vaping

A good point. I know that the prices have to be what they are for overhead...OTOH, they could still get a very loyal juice and parts customer.

You shouldn't use 2.0 or below on any battery less than 750 mah. The lower resistance can kill or at least reduce the life of the battery. I use 2 ohm carto's on my 750 and 1100 mah riva's all the time..
