I made this thread to keep us aware of issues experienced by users when using their *VV tube mod.

*Since Lavatube comes in many names, I decided to just use VV tube mod.

Lavatube is also known as:
L-Rider
X-Pipe
Mod-X
Knightrider
Dynamite

Please add if deemed necessary:

1. Affects Analog TV reception as experienced here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lavatube/254539-lavatube-effects-tv-reception.html
2. LCD display bleeds during extended chain-vaping as experienced here: The Lava Tube (a.k.a. L-Rider)
3. please add...

  • 3) voltage lowers as battery drains. not regulated? why does LT have this problem and provari doesn't?
  • 4) plastic end cap easily pops off and needs super glue. like an aluminium cap would be so much more expensive?
  • 5) top plastic cap (with 510 conection) seems loose, and keeps comming up a bit, and I have to push it back down.

while I do like my LT and can get a very good, satisfying vape out of it I do have a couple issues.

as mentioned above the voltage does drop as the battery drains.. I've tested this myself with a voltmeter.
also I thought I would like it if the voltage dropped when the atty/carto used exceeded the 2.5 amp limit (as opposed to giving an error message) but I don't really, it seems to drop too low instead of just down to the limit.
My endcap did come off and I gorilla glued it back on, I have had no other cosmetic or functional issues.

The voltage issue renders the voltage led readout pretty much useless.. as I never know for sure what the voltage is, unless I screw on the voltmeter.

as I said above, I do enjoy using the LT and think it's worth the money they're asking. I won't buy another unless these issues are resolved.

My only issue so far, is that I just discovered a cutoff time. I never heard about this, not entirely surprised but it does bother a slow draw vaper like myself.

Feather your draw.... Hold the button for 5,6,7 or 9 seconds and release then press again and continue to vape.... Takes a little practice but easily accomplished.... You could get an 18 second draw if you time it right....

HTH

Cheers...

For the Ego-T upgraders/converts out there and the subject of a "smooth" draw:

Not any fault of the LT but I purchased a 510-egoT adapter from Clouds of Vapor that's threaded too deep...actually too long on the female end to make contact with the Ego Atty contact....my solution: just use a 510 to 510 extension if you have one lying around....it works and works well. The fault lies with the Clouds of Vapor adapter. Consolidate that anyone who would like to....lol

A better "bet" if you want a 510- Ego adapter would be to purchase the one at Provape as it is an adjustable...that should do the trick or just use a 510-510 extension.

EDIT: I typically use the LT with the 510 to 510 adapter. For me the adaptor used with the Kanger LR (2.0), Boge 3.0 or a Volcano 3.0 tube refill lends to a MUCH smoother less "stiff" draw than a direct connect between the LT 510 connecter and carto. Only three I've tried other than the Ego-T atty and all draw very well with the adapter. Of course this lends me to believe the same may hold true with other "setups" as well.

#9.....All 18650 batteries DO NOT FIT....very annoying....They all work, but the slightly longers ones make the end cap protrude a bit.

I would like to address this as I was addressed when I questioned tube length to accommodate extended battery lengths. Creniker posts:

"So let me go ahead and address why they didnt make the tube longer. Because its only meant to be used with IMR batteries. IMR batteries are the only batteries that should be used in a boost circuit mod. Thats why it was made to accommodate them, and not other batteries. The boost circuit would stress other batteries."

The man hits it right on the head.....it was never designed to and why they recommend the AW IMR's Right or wrong that's the design. Just some info that eluded me before he hit me in the head with it....lol

#10 Exploding Lavatubes, from people trying to jam batteries that don't fit it the unit for a reason.

Well give that one some time lol...I'm not sure to consider myself lucky or not but I've experienced none of the stated problems. Then again, my unit didn't come from volcano. Maybe they are rushing these out faster now and cutting corners, to keep up with demand?

I don't know and for me personally I just don't wanna go that route in this thread with all due respect. Most but not all of my issues are my issues.... very subjective. Issues that really aren't actually issues just my experience shared to hopefully make the vaping experience a little bit better for someone else using their LT.....Pleased to hear your's is working out very well for ya it seems....:)

And I'm sad others have problems with there's. Maybe things will settle has production keeps going, maybe worsen. The exploding bit is just something I mmm...foresee :glare:. They could jam a note in the kits about the batteries, at the very least.

Thanks for the quote.

Another issue cosmetically is that the Lavatube logo is rubbing off for a lot of people.

I've been heavily, religiously, and exclusivly using lava tube for almost a month now, no sign of wear on the logo.

truthfully, I don't even understand how that can happen.. I use my thumb and index finger to fire, and both ways my hand never really makes contact with the logo. so how can it be rubbing off for some people???

My last two fingers cover the logo when I fire it unless I hold it with my fingertips which isn't natural to me. I'm more into function than the visual aesthetics but I understand why some may be put off by it coming off. Too, I believe that getting juice on it would degrade it as well. I've noticed that when the labels on my juice bottles get juice on them they start to degrade as well.
