2) How long do you think it's going to take before e cigs overtake analogs?
This is a toughie. When we consider the relative speed that vaping technology has developed as interest in vaping grows, we will see an increase in which "adequate" devices are the norm, and cigalikes will be supplanted by this new technology. As it stands, EGO batteries and the like are smaller devices, but still don't fit in the hand like an analog.
This is an intimidating sell for someone who just wants to "try one out", because most cigalikes are crap compared to even a basic EGO starter kit. When a person who knows nothing about e-cigarettes (I detest this term because we are not smoking analogs; maybe Digirettes or something, but in the end they're just PVs we vape nicotine/pg/vg from) the first thing that comes to mind is often a cigalike.
I realize further downsizing of the basic 510 model is not a wise decision due to battery life, but my feeling is that tobacconists will begin to start stocking NET e-liquids a couple of years or less down the line, and we'll see NETs perfected via scientific process.
If people can come and try an e-liquid and device out before making a purchase on a worthless cigalike, they will be much more apt to purchase something they can try hands-on, be hands-on with, and happily leave with. Most newbies to vaping literally have nowhere to start.
Where do I give them links to?
This forum, names of NET vendors who helped me kick the analog craving, and immediately dismiss whatever they've tried that was supposed to taste like tobacco and didn't- well, I counter that by explaining what NETs are and how they're extremely different than traditional e-juice. I've even cut my nicotine level down lower than everyone else in the house....
...oh, right, back on topic.
I think that if progress is currently unimpeded by governmental agencies, we will see a full transition to PVs/E-cigarettes within a timeframe of 4-7 years. All it takes is one tastes from the right PV, with the right liquid to "unhook" someone from analogs.
It was an RY4 in a "21st century smoke" that helped get me off of analogs.
I didn't even know what an RY4 was at the time, and I didn't know I was using a cigalike, or what that was, either.
....admittedly, I
have heard people tell me that their doctors are telling them it's "worse for you than smoking"

.... unfortunately, I have to then inform them that their doctor is an idiot.
