Wow, speak for yourself sensei lol. I think we all know how to subscribe and unsubscribe to a thread. Oh and just before you dismiss someone's prattle as 'not offering anything to a thread', someone goes and 'likes' their comments. Just goes to show....
For everyone using the "What's new -> my posts" to keep up with threads, please look into how subscribing to threads works.

The process of posting in a thread to keep track of it, in addition to being very inflexible, makes a mess in threads when you aren't "offering anything" to the thread itself at the same time. Do it without posting by selecting subscribe from the thread tools menu of the thread you are interested in.

Your subscriptions just as easy to get via a link under the "Quick links" menu.

Not only that, but now you have somewhere that you control - you don't have to be concerned with things you no longer want to look at going away - just unsubscribe.

I was only trying to be helpful. I had the sincere feeling that some people really don't know how to subscribe/unsubscribe or more likely, just hadn't noticed the feature.

By not "offering anything" to the thread I was only referring to those posts I've bumped into (not all that infrequently) that read something like:
"Posting here so I can keep track of this thread."

Thanks for the honorary title either way.

Um, yeah, there are several people I've seen, recently even, that did not know how to subscribe. There are newbies every day, and there are some that have been here for some time, who don't know how and probably appreciate the tip. You never know, which is why it should never hurt to offer tips to fellow members.

Just my :2c: ...

Well OK then, no harm done. But since I was the first person in this thread, who commented on the annoying pop ups under My Posts, (maybe someone didn't read this thread from the beginning) I wasn't too crazy about the implication that not only that I am a noob, but I make a mess of threads by making nonsense comments in order to keep track of them. Never heard of the like!
I was always taught not to give advice unless asked for (also this is not the New Member's forum). By the way there are several old threads on this matter, myself having started one a long time ago.
Peace.

I, for one, did read this from the beginning [just happens to be where it started in my browser], though I won't claim to remember everything I read. I'm sorry I forgot to take your name down before posting though, so I could have explicitly excluded you or anyone else that might be put off by those sharing instructional information, without addressing specific recipients, somewhere they feel it might be helpful.

Clearly you are much more important to me than I ever realized! I'm not sure why else my oversight might have spoken so pointedly to you. This is all especially grievous since you were "the first" after all.

At least I am finally writing to you regularly now, right? ;)

While I'm positive there are plenty of other threads on the matter (as that's the nature of a gigantic forum such as this), you are correct to point out that I wasted some time here in typing my own instructions - I could have simply linked to one of the several/dozens on the topic. I do however feel it was still a good place to share it based on what I had read of other's comments - particularly those people that appeared to be using "my recent posts" would probably be more likely to see such a comment posted here.

If I could be so bold as to offer some more information (which seems likely to be read as, but is not really "advice"), there's a link beneath my name on my profile page that will allow you to ignore me if you wish. Though this has become entertaining, so I'm not actually asking (or otherwise advising in any way) that you do :p

In any case...

I now completely forget what's happening about merging some threads that were split up.

Whatever - I'll just update my subscriptions and hope for the best!

Peace,
