So far I have gotten two close friends and two co-workers interested in vaping. They have all bought kits (good ones at decent prices online, learning from my mistakes). I am proud to help people get healthier and move into something that will be better for them.

How many people have you gotten over to the lighter side?

So far I have one person from work who definitely wants to get an ecig but I'm slowly working on the others. Whats nice is that I don't even have to suggest it to them, they see me smoking my cig-a-like and start asking about it. Then I work in how much better it tastes and let them try out my spare. So far everyone who's tried it has liked it, now to just reel em in. ;)

Awesome, Gimme. I have helped a half-dozen people take up vaping over the last four years (more than that, but some fell off the wagon early on because the products weren't as good at the time). It's like you said, we have to help them learn from our mistakes and get them to buy a good product to start with.

Cheers, b_1620. Good work furthering the cause.

Potential vapers are those who are interested in quitting smoking. They are looking for a painless way to do that. For those smokers who don't intend to quit, not so much.

All you can do is relate how vaping allowed you to quit smoking without the problems of sudden cessation and with greater satisfaction than any other method you have tried. When people ask me what my ecig is, I tell them it's what allowed me to stop smoking easily.

The good part about vaping is that it simulates smoking closely enough that the transition is easy. The "geek" part of it is the metal tube and strange looking devices we use to atomize juice. People think it's a drug delivery device or a strange looking way to smoke. For all practical purposes, it is a drug delivery device for a legal drug ... nicotine.

Most of the people I know quit smoking way before I did. I'm a straggler.

My wife converted after seeing me go for an entire week without an analog, we have been smoke free for over a month.

We bought a friend an eGo kit a couple weeks ago and it sits unused. She sees my wife every day with her PV and says she will try it soon. I hope so.

I won an e-cig starter kit in a contest and gave it to another friend 2 days ago. I will see her on Sunday, hopefully she will be using it.

A client of mine was in my office the other day. She saw my PV, grinned and pulled out her e-cig. She is smoking 5-10 analogs a day now, down from 1 pack. I had no idea...

A very good friend of ours had a lung removed last summer because of smoking and still couldn't quit. She picked up a couple disposables in October last year and hasn't had an analog since. She still has one of the disposables, it's dead but she takes it out to hold it when she feels the urge for an analog. She hasn't bought analogs or disposables since October.

I have 2 teammates that are interested! They've both had a toke (sorry, I like that better than "toot"!) from my PV and are amazed at how good it tastes. One of them is interested in buying my original starter kit off of me and the other has asked for a recommendation on where to go for gear.

Excellent! Sounds like you need to be some store's affiliate.

I've converted 37 people. 26 of which have completely quit analogs. Most of these people get their juice from me exclusively so it's a win/win for me! I help people quit smoking and they become customers!

That's amazing, Aras! Truly a win-win.

I have convinced two friends in the two weeks ive quit to buy some stuff and try it out. I'm careful not to be too pushy or demeaning because as a former smoker I still do not like the zealous anti smokers. Yes smoking is horrible for you, and yes vaping is better. But they made the choice to start and they'll have to choose to quit. We all know smoking is bad, so I just try to tell people how its easy to quit and how I feel better.

THIS. When my smoking friends and family ask about my vape I tell them the full on truth: it's been easy. No nic fits, no cravings, and tasty to boot. I would tell them I feel better but I'm still occasionally coughing up tar and junk so they might not believe me...

Six so far, who have themselves converted people (including my mother, who converted a nurse while in recovery from cataract surgery).

I'm working on three others, one of whom is very motivated (he's on his second heart attack already). One's a probable no, and the other is maybe, maybe not.

I've converted one smoker who has been cig free since early December. I have also 'converted' several non-smokers and smokers as far as seeing that vaping is a good alternative to smoking. This is not to say that the latter group, particularly the non-smokers, are taking up vaping. Rather, they are better informed and much more supportive of those who do. :) x

It's been said that the vapor helps break up the crap on the lungs, which supposedly accounts for the coughing*. Take that with a grain of salt, though, as it could have been made up by a vendor in order to sell more kits. Personally, when I started vaping I noticed my coughing increased for a several weeks and then started calming down until it went away altogether, so maybe there's something to it?

I find it's a different kind of cough altogether, but I don't know that you could tell that from an outside perspective.

I didn't have a bad smoker's cough before, but would cough consistently at night when lying down to sleep for the first 15 minutes or so. Just a light, occasional, can't help it cough. Every 2 minutes or so. Again in the morning. Not the lung wracking, doubled over, can't catch a breath cough I've seen in too many others.

Now I'm good until I have the urge to clear my throat (yup, I'm a vg vaper!), and doing that gets me to cough once. It's a productive cough and lets just say it's pretty obvious my lungs are cleaning themselves out *vom* No lung rattles, no coughing fits. If I really want to cough to clear things out, I find a nice strong mint does help; even as a smoker I would hang my head over a steaming bowl of water laced with peppermint oil to break up chest congestion.

I have converted 6. 4 are friends and 2 are family members. I hope you are reading this FDA. My father smoked for 30+ years and NOTHING helped him quit. Not a patch. Not gum. Not that toxic pill. He has not smoked a real cig in over 2 years because he uses an ecig. Oh then again, this may be their issue. Loss of profits and all.

I like this. Good for you and everyone you have helped!

Thirty-five, if I count the several that were battling the cig-look-alike or C/T-tank frustrations. Got kit #36 out in da mail for an 'ECF family member's' sister.

Methodology - Just vaping my PV out and about, awaiting questions. I do not 'recruit'. Plus, da 'word' does get around! One young gent was so impressed, he asked for four more setups for his parents and couple o' buds.

Setups Provided - 3.7V eGo kits with eMDCCs. A few have moved on to clearomizers and/or carto tanks. The majority are still with the orig configuration. It's a satisfying and relatively cheap way to ascertain whether vaping will be acceptable for a n00b.

I basically charge what the 'kits' costs me with shipping. My goal is gettin' folk off 'bakky, not profit.

What's really great are da smiles whenever a v-vert drops by for a joose refill or for new cartos/clearo/DCTs. Very personally rewarding hobby!

For Xmas just gone - just bought a colleague of mine and Ego and Nova tank - he was on an e-cig before that - you know the little ciggie-looking things that blink at the end LOL! He had little $ - they had a baby on the way etc - he still uses it today!

You will find a lot of smokers very receptive to "look man - this is fun, tastes really good but isn't tobacco - just steam - and can save you $6 a day"

My work allows me to walk around and vape all day anyway, but you really DO have to go out on a limb and explain ... it is what are you are doing with a light sabre in your mouth?!!

Once you have that little wrinkle ironed out even the non-smokers are cool ;) win win!

I advise all the noobs to get simple devices like Egos and Nova tanks - maybe even a Silver Bullet if they smoked as much as i used to, just for the battery life. Then their initial outlay is not fierce and they can go from there.

I was a convert! My friends weren't trying to persuade me but after seeing three of them independently find and like them, I fell for it.

The health aspect is by far the best part, but it was the price argument that won the internal debate in my head. Then the convenience. I think that's the way to "push" it on analog smokers. If it's presented as another compromise ("It's *almost* like smoking"), people will stick with the ciggs. If it's presented as an advantage ("It's cheap and you can do it indoors"), people will be all over it.
