Ive been reading and watching Barrett Jackson all morning. Then went to go get a pot from under the counter to cook my rice for lunch and was met with an avalanche of teflon and stainless steel. So I sat on the floor to rearrange it all.

Then I ate too much. Two overflowing bowls of red beans and rice. Now my gut hurts so good. And I want to eat more, but there is zero room left. :D

Y'all put me in the mood for gumbo, AND it's rainy and dreary here, which is perfect weather for it. Going to make a simple (mine usually isn't) pot of gumbo for dinner.

There's an awesome Cajun butcher just down the street from me. Boudin, pre-made roux, gator, turtle, craw fish, rattle snake. He even has Nutria sometimes, although I won't eat that. During the holidays he makes and sells Turducken and traditional turkeys.

He also has items that every butcher has. Brisket, ribs, chops, loins, roasts, chicken. Incredible little shop and a friendly family that owns it.

That's almost worth moving to Houston for!

Good Saturday Afternoon Posse! I slept way more than I have ever slept in years. I'm feeling a whole lot better and apparently I did not get the same crud Hubby had, I got a very bad cold. Blah. I'm feeling a lot better since I stayed in bed from Thursday till this morning. My wonderful iPhone that wouldn't let me get on here to check in because it was being cranky still can't figure out what its problem was but Hubby fixed it with a hard reset. :)

Hopefully everyone is doing okay. I'm not even gonna try to catch up but foot notes would be nice. :D

Not even room for freshly baked cookies James?

We solved our avalanche problem and hung a pot rack. And I love it.
When I made that post, I wouldve had to turn them down. Yes, I was that full. But I have room now!

Weve thought about a pot rack, but the way our kitchen is set up, we would need to install an island, which we have put some SERIOUS thought into. But the kitchen is JUST small enough make it too small for one.

What he said!

FP coffee this morning. Yum. :)

Mr. V is suffering for the cause, licking out the batter bowls so I can wash them.
The poor poor man. I cant believe you are that mean to him. Cleaning the bowls before you wash them. Its tragic.

 He's taste testing the first two from each sheet, just to make sure they're safe.
Hm.... If he was like me, he would deem them completely inedible and take them all to prevent anyone else from having to taste such atrocious cookies.

I'm back. I had kitchen cleaning to do, Mr. V made breakfast.

Last night I watched the show about the guy in Zanesville. The entire thing is still just so sad, but it did explain some of it. I still don't get why he turned them loose though. I guess no one will ever completely understand that part. What shocked me is that his wife was allowed to pick up and take home the animals that survived that night....
What's that all about???

I have the same problem, kitchen is too small, plus not really any wall space for a rack. I probably could put one in if I got rid of the ceiling fan, but Ian and Andy would kill themselves hitting the pots!

He's random tasting them now, just to be sure they are all okay. I better eat one before they are all gone.

Our kitchen is laid out incredibly stupid. It's a L, leaving one entire wall blank. It has a window on that wall and we added a few cabinets a few years back. We hung the pot rack in front of the window (the only place it could go) and even though I know it is there, I walk into a sauce pan at least once a week. Mr. V avoids the thing like the plague. One of these centuries we will get the kitchen done....

Bamrz, a nut case had 40 some exotic carnivores on his property in OH. Before shooting himself, he cut them all loose. Sadly, most of the animals had to be killed. Hungry tigers/lions/bears, etc. in town is not a good idea.... Stretchy could tell you when it was, last year I believe.
