Scissors? Oh no!You need some thinning shears for the mats that aren't all the way to the skin. It doesn't "cut" the mat out, it loosens it and thins the mat so it will brush out. Don't buy the cheap ones at Petsmart. They stink. You take the thinning shears and clip a few times INTO the mat, not under it. Then brush it out. I have some good instructions written out on how to brush too.
Dixie must have the really thick undercoat. I'll send you a link to a decent pair of thinners that aren't too pricey if you want.
