Cost of analogs when you started smoking !

94 cents a pack for premium smokes in 1985. last pack was 5.40 2 weeks ago. figured i spent enough over 25 years at that rate at a constant rate of inflation i have spent over 30000 on cigarettes the last 25 years. i could own a nice bass boat, a 54 inch plasma screen tv, and still have 8-10 grand for beer. damn

When I used to shoulder tap for smokes it was $2.50 a pack.

Hmmm I can't really remember but I want to say it was $2 or so 21 years ago. I remember saying as they went up that I'd never pay $5 a pack. Recently I've paid over $8 though.

Maybe a $1.50 now that I think of it. Actually the year was 1988, so 22 years ago.

Yeah, that's about right. Last time I bought smokes in Manhattan was two years ago (a few tax hikes) and it was over eight bucks for Camels.

I have no idea how much they cost when I started (in 92) but it was not .35, and wow 8.47/pack where are you in NYC? Dang, thats way too much.

Don't remember all the details, but I know I worked at the local restaurant prepping potatoes in Jr High (now middle school) on Friday afternoons for 4 hours and made $2.00 (on the side).......kept me in cigarettes all week (1970)........1977 when I BOUGHT my own car (72 Mustang Mach 1 !).......I would fill that up and buy a carton of cigarettes for a $20.00 bill......ahhhh the good old days.......funny that car was grey and black.....just like my hair now!
