Did you tell the nurse or receptionist at the ER's check-in desk that you were having chest pains and difficulty breathing? If you did, and they made you wait for four hours...
OK, I'm dumbfounded. I don't even know what to say to that.
(Do y'all know how often I'm at loss for words? Never! Even if I'm not talking to another person, I'm talking to myself almost continually. I'm hardly ever not talking. Ever!)
That's just asking for a patient sitting in the waiting room to experience a severe health emergency beyond what they walked in with, or even die, specifically because they were expected to wait that long.
Oooohh... I'd hate to be on that hospital's legal staff.
And I'm not faulting you at all, not even a little. And you have no reason to be embarrassed, no matter how it all works out. I'd much rather see a person overreact to a health problem than see them underreact and risk the consequences. If you ask me, "better safe than sorry" doesn't belong to any scenario more than that one.
My consternation is entirely with the ER if you told them all the symptoms you listed in your original post, and they made you wait for that long. Grrrr. Just grrrr.
Thanks to everyone for the replies. I am really sorry I didn't get a chance to get on here sooner.... it's been a crazy, crazy day. I did go to the ER last night, but after waiting for four hours and not being seen, I left. Called my doctor this morning and made an appointment to be seen tomorrow at 11:30. The nurse seemed to think it was something that needed to be looked at right away. Thanks so much for all of your concern and posts. I truly did not know whether I should go to the ER or not, because I have a tendency to blow things out of proportion when I'm sick. Thanks again to all and I will let you know what the doctor says. I swear, if this turns out to be an ulcer or something, I'm going to be really embarrassed.
Thanks for listening.![]()

I never said I DIDN'T get medical attention when it happened the first time. In fact, I went to the ER then but the tests were inconclusive.

Now, I know you guys are going to tell me to go to the doctor for this, which I will. My appointment is on April 21....
That said, I've been coughing up tiny amounts of bright red blood the last couple of days and, seeing as how I had the same problem last year before I began vaping, I'm a little concerned.
Maybe it has nothing to do with vaping since I was coughing up blood before I even started, but COULD it be related to vaping? I'm also having mild chest pains and wheezing, and my friends tell me I look pretty pale. I've also had fatigue.
As convinced as I am (so far) that I do not have lung cancer (I AM only 30 years old, after all), I must admit that both my maternal grandmother and my mother passed away from lung cancer in their mid-50s.
So......what do you guys think this could be from? I doubt there are any doctors on this forum, but I wanted to see if anyone has any insight so I kind of know what I'm dealing with before I see the doctor.
Thanks!

UPDATE:
Just got back from the doctor. Apparently it's probably nothing to worry about, since the doctor said 95% of the time when someone coughs up blood it's not a big deal. He does, however, think I have anemia, which could explain the pale skin, weakness and exhaustion. However he really had no explanation for the chest pains and said that I am no longer wheezing... he did order a chest x-ray just in case, which I will have done on Monday. Also did lots of bloodwork. So I should hear everything by Wednesday at the latest I'm hoping. Thanks again for all your support!!!!!![]()

I have dealt with a few patients who present with similar symptoms. Good luck! Hopefully, your labs will indicate more information.
