Works well on Skype, but had to pay for landline support.

Two minute presentations are following the main presentation.

E-Cig supporter, non smoker, but mother has COPD issues. Selling on 40 known carcinogens in smoke, 0 in PV vapor. Selling on basis of a lot less puffs taken than are taken on cigarettes. Did a good job.

Thad is on and doing a great job of hitting the key points. Brought up Siegel's study.

Gary Addelson, from Vancouver, a 40 year smoker turned into a PV user giving his experience. Brought up significance of having to go out and vape with the smokers and the second hand smoke issue.

Randy Flood, tobacco prevention in african american something or other, wants to ban use in public areas, go figure.

Clarifications from David after he had about a half hour to speak, just to say they aren't trying to ban them, just keep them away from the public.

BOH comments-

No idea how many use PVs in county.

PVs and any nicotine product not approved by FDA would supposedly also be banned from public use like nicotine water. Just the messenger here.

One of board members wants to split up the regulations, approve ban for kids, leave public alone. Our friend.
Wants more study before approval. They're going to recess and make adjustments to policy to back out the public smoking and return to committee. Changed mind and are discussing in open forum. Talking about approving section eight only for banning sales to children. A doctor has also wanted to coupon section to be included. They have a Philip Morris electronic device at the meeting, I sure hope Thad gets a good look at it.

They're starting to sound real reasonable, other than the ban advocate, I think this is going to be a home run.

We now have another voice that is trying to sell the nicotine is more addictive than h itself. The vote should be interesting. Mistake on the side of harm. Since we don't know what the FDA is going to do, we need to protect our children and he doesn't like the term "nanny state". An amendment was forwarded to remove the public use and working locations from the legislation.

Hutchinson is amending the proposal for discussion. Lambert is saying this would make it loosening the reigns. She is saying they've banned smokeless tobacco in the workplace which I highly doubt. Clarified by lawyer, that smokeless isn't banned as far as she knows. Obviously the BOH doesn't know what the smoking laws is. Hutchinson sounds very reasonable.

Some other woman is opposing the amendment on the anti flag. Doesn't want the image to be sent, selling the patch and the gum. This should be an interesting vote. Voting on amendment, silence, wth.

Okay, just as they were going to a vote on the amendment the audio went out. While I'm waiting I would like to say that no one officially was there from any of the axis of evil which I was a bit surprised by. Perhaps they are not going to broadcast the vote publicly which I don't quite understand but perhaps Thad will know what happened. If anyone else is on this meeting and is getting something, please post. I waited for this meeting all day.

Well, I just called in and they voted 10-0 to implement something, presumably the e-cigarette legislation.

Sad.

I recalled and heard the same thing as you, but whether they passed the amendment that would have taken public vaping and work vaping out of the legislation was being voted on when the signal cut out. So all we know at this point is that something passed.

The amendment was defeated on a vote of 4-6. The bill passed, electronic smoking devices are now banned in public and workplaces in King County, WA now.

Ridiculous. At least there were 4 people on the Board of Health that were willing to be reasonable. When their names come out they deserve a few kind e-mails.

Why on EARTH would they do that? So if someone sues to try and repeal it, they can be like, "Oh look that guy wants to sell ecigs to kids!" That's the only reason I can think of why they would lump something like that together.

Ugh this makes me so frustrated. Sometimes I have to go over there... Ya know, to the airport and stuff... Get stuck for hours.... It wasn't so bad when I could vape inside! Now I gotta go through security again, go outside... Man.

I live across the water from Seattle, but it's prolly just a matter of time now before the other counties start proposing the same thing, and then I'm going outside in the near constant rain all the time too!

King County bans public e-cigarette smoking

The King County Board of Health passed a controversial proposal Thursday that bans the public use of electronic cigarettes, despite protests that the battery-powered, nicotine-delivery sticks emit no second-hand smoke and are often used for harm reduction.
