I'm about two solid weeks into vaping, and I've noticed a couple of things. I'm just curious about if they are normal or not.

1. Insomnia. I mean I was a late night person to begin with, but I usually still made it to bed by one in the morning. Now I'm lucky if I see my bed at 5 am, usually get about 4-5 hours of sleep then off to work.

2. This one is slightly embarrassing but I now have gas. I blame it on the dog when I'm home, when I'm at work I blame it on the friers.

3. Weight loss, I've lost 10lbs since I started vaping. I've been vaping desert and coffee flavorings, so it kills the munchies that I used to have when trying to quit analogs.

Hello, wickdtruth, welcome!

1. The insomnia is possibly due to a higher nicotine level in your blood. Nicotine is a stimulant, so you may wish to taper off your vaping before bedtime. May vapers who are quitting analogs tend to consume more nicotine than they did from tobacco.

2. Gas is common, but few have the bravery to bring it up. It is considered common among people who have recently stopped smoking cigarettes. Oddly enough, I had it when I STARTED smoking cigarettes. I have not yet given up tobacco, so we'll see for me.

3. Well, if you're not underweight, good for you! Nice to improve the health on several fronts if you can. Me, I'm a 170 lb man trapped in a 190 lb body :glare:

To your health! :toast:

1. Some people need to vape lower nic in the evening. I am the opposite. I vape extra before I go to bed. But at home I also do not suck on my ecigs constantly all night. At home I leave them in another room and when I feel the urge I have to get off my .... and go vape. So I don't build up a a tremendous amount of nicotine during the evening and if anything, I am ingesting less in the evening than during the day at work when the ecigs are on my desk.

2. gas - yeah. it seemed to get better the more months I vaped. It also got better when I switched to cartos - meybe I get less juice in my mouth. I have also been lowering my nicotine. Also in the beginning sometime my tongue would get confused and swallow the vapor or it seemed like that.

3. yeah sometimes I forget to get or drink the tea w/ sugar I used to sip on constantly. Got your taste buds back and your smell? Visit a good buffet!

1. Insomnia - yeah, probably. But I had insomnia before I started vaping, so that really doesn't count.

2. Gas - Yes. But I'm also on meds that can cause gas. My fiance has it worse than I do, although he'd never admit it. We blame it on the dog when we're at home or on the oil refinery, the car in front of us or any other number of things when we're out.

3. Weight loss. My fiance has definitely lost weight. I lost weight initially, but I've gained a little back due to health issues that keep me from exercising.

Insomnia and gas are both also on the symptom list for quitting smoking, so it's pretty much a toss up as to whether it comes from the vaping or the ending of cigarettes. As others have said, lower your nic levels before bed for the insomnia. As for the gas, up your water and roughage intake, especially your water as vaping will dehydrate you.

By the way, there's an Arkansas specific sub-forum here if you haven't found it yet. Natural State Vapers Welcome to ECF! :)

Hello and welcome. Yes all three of the things you have noticed are normal.

For me this forum contributed as much to the insomnia as vaping.

At least I had something to do while I couldn't sleep.

I seem to have fewer stomach troubles now that I have more gas. LOL

As far as losing weight, for myself, not sure yet. 10 pounds loss wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit.

Remember that smoking cessation has a whole list of symptoms as well. At least for most of us. And sometimes it can be hard to separate which is which.

I hope vaping works as well for you as it has for me.

Wow, I'm a little amazed at the number of response. I'll definitely look into some 0 nic juice for my night time vaping needs. I did not realize that my home state had a home on this forum, so I thank you Storm for pointing me in that direction. So far vaping is working wonderfully for me. I was lucky in the fact that the day before my first e-cig showed up on my doorstep, I had already smoked the last analog I had. Thank you all for the great advice and responses.

I never had what one could call a good night's sleep. The longest I could normally sleep would be 3 hours straight. I now wake up every 90 minutes, but I blame it more on age than vaping.
As for gas, I have not noticed any more gas than normal. Of course I am also going slightly deaf, so maybe I do have more gas and I just don't know it.
I would welcome some extra weight loss. I could easily stand to drop 50 to 70 pounds, but my doctor says that I am not over weight, so I will believe him instead of the scale and my belt.
