Watching old movies, where everybody smokes, is what gets me. I just stop and think about that incredibly acrid, intense odor that lit cigs produce, then lie back with a fresh auto batt and one of my favorite "true tobacco" cartos (Hilton or Dunhall), and "smoke" (vape) away with everyone else on the screen!

P.S. : Jeffree, I am very sorry for your loss.

I keep reminding folks to avoid that pesky thought that we can have just one cig, just to check how bad it will taste. Some folks here have done that, no prob, but many haven't survived the trial. Back to cigs for a while, back to the fight. I've seen that story played out here a lot in the past couple of years. No need to tempt fate, IMO.

I agree with this 100% for *ME* - I would most assuredly not have survived that trial. If I would have had just one, I would have been doomed. I too have gone through a major loss and it took EVERYTHING in me to stay away from the cigs - several in my family still smoke and it was all around me at the funeral home outside, at our get togethers during the time everyone was in town. It was so hard. But I kept thinking that my mom would be so ...... at me if I did it. She kept me from smoking. Jeffree, please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss!

Thanks everybody! Figured I'd chime back in for the curious. I fought off the craving. It was very intense and very short lived as well. Cravings aside, I like vaping so much more than cigarettes. Better throat hit, since I switched to ultra lights before the switch, and the flavor difference is ridiculous.

BUT, I switched in the middle of an open pack in early June. At the time, I had 9 ciggies left in the pack. I did the "just 1" test several times. I lucked out, because the just 1 test has been the downfall of every other attempt to quit I have ever made. But now that I'm vaping, I found myself grossed out and wanting a vape when I would smoke again. That pack emptied out a month or so ago, and other than Sunday I've had no desire to go buy more. Even when enjoying a delicious adult beverage! In fact, my love of fruity vapes has awakened a love of girly mixed drinks... I'm married, so it's allowed and, in fact, encouraged

And I'm also very sorry for your loss, Jeffree

Kris ..i am challenged today waiting for my order on weds or thurs so i can have some menthols and tobacco flavors .
It was my fault ,waited too long to order as i was being overly frugal so i will never let my stock run that low again .
I went to find a newer carto to fill with what i have and found a cuban cigar carto that was very full still ...thank god .
I am now going to have a stash ,nowhere near Morandirs but its gonna be there for times of drought and stock issues .

I hear ya there Eleanor .I am watching Mad Men ( 60's ) on netflix season by season and they smoke 100% of the time ,all the time ,everybody lol. (I have to vape when i watch it when hubbys not here ) Do you know i sneak it in here and he has never said "do you vape in here " ? he doesn't have a clue i am breaking his rule .

Thank you, Chim and Kris. I'd long suspected that surviving the loss of a loved one would be the truest test of whether I'm really a non-smoker.

Good luck, Waylon. I'm also in the group that believes a heady stash of favorite juices is key for the cig-quits. I stock up during the biggest sales (I'm not rich) and currently have about a year's supply of juices in storage. The same for my wife and her beloved prem Green Tea. One less worry for us when suppliers' juices change or sell out.

Yeah thats what I did ,waited for the 30% sale and hit it hard .I should have money but as a friend said to me yesterday about owning a home " the dog sneezes and its 1K" lmao

Waylon hang in there gir...Wed or Thurs will be here before you know it. Seems like between the kids, house and vehicles something is always going wrong when you think you have a little extra money..but I agree with you I'd rather be master of my own place and put up with the problems.

Jeffree...will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm just so thankful we have memories to cherish...

Ms. Nancy it's the way life works sadly, but as long as you have the important things (friends, family (including the most important part pets), and a place to stay), it will all work out in the end.

BUt that being said I would pay anything not to have another slumlord like i had .

Hence me putting up with juice shortages, days on end of tuna, mac and cheese, and hot dogs, and walking instead of driving at work. (So, 3+ miles of walking a day) It may suck now, but I will laugh and dance away from my slumlord and into my own house in mid 2013, so help me...

Our slumlord never did anything that wasnt urgent for 17 years .....he'd come over ,look at his outdoor peeling paint and say hmmm ...i need to get this painted ..then never do it ...among other things we lived with ancient everything .And when he did do something ,it was the cheapest ( not the best ) fix- it always .
Know when he painted the outside ? when we were packing up to move and he had no choice so he could re-rent .LMAO
That and everything else he ignored ....I hope it cost him what he should have spent each year times 17 years .
Oh then he owed us rent ,and put it off until he knew he would be sued for it ....lovely human being .

And not alone. When I was an undergrad, my crotchety landlord refused to return my deposit. I tucked my hair inside my shirt, donned my Kmart suit, and took him to court. And I won. I'll never forget the feeling of triumph, especially as he slunk out of court while trying to ignore me. Doesn't get much better than that.
