This thread is about giving credit to innovative vape gear and who first came out with it and when. I want this thread to focus mostly on "the first(s)" in innovative gear that a vaper could actually buy (even if the items were limited and hard to get), but not necessarily the "best" or "better" that may have come out at a later date. I would initially like stick to major innovations as I wouldn't want the thread to get bogged down too soon with talking about gear that was a mere tweak to the major innovation. After we have some of the biggest innovations established, listed with pics (pics will be very important) and dates, we can move to more derivations of those "firsts".
I know all so-called ecigs are a set of basic components, but that's not a point I wish to dwell on (in regards to what constitutes a further innovation). Some of this may get murky, but I think there can be a general agreement at least about what in our community was a "first" and who came out with it (though it may be more difficult to agree on what was/is an actual innovation). And not to discount all the modders, designers and inventors out there that spurred many of the products we have, but without an actual product made with some level of availability for consumers, there would be no easy way to validate every claim with who made something first -- but we can at least acknowledge them if we have enough info. We should give credit to those who played major roles in the original design/conception of a device (like the case with the Raidy and the *Genisis atty), but for the most part this is about the vendor/supplier/manufacturer that made the product available.
★ After we have a list of what the actual innovations were -- beyond the common cart/atty/cig-a-like combo -- we can then move toward the phase of figuring out who were the firsts (obliviously some of this will be easy). Examples of innovations:
Cartotank
VV device
VW device
Bottom-fed mod
Mechanical mod
Hybrid mod
Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer
Rebuildable Tank Atomizer
Genisis
etc.
(Do you know who made the first true mechanical device? The first hybrid mod? The first production-genisis? Who was first to sell the carto tank? The first RTA? The first bottom-feeder? The first variable wattage? Have you seen all the first versions?...)
*Not a typo. "Genisis" is the spelling -- it's an acronym. "Genial Simpler Siebdampfer (ingeniously simple mesh steamer)" -- Raidy
